EU RURAL DEVELOPMENT GRANT SCHEME WILL PROVIDE GRANTS OF BETWEEN 15-THOUSAND AND 100-THOUSAND EUROS

The European Commission has called for proposals under the Rural Development Grant Scheme.

The EU Rural Development Grant Scheme - will provide grants of between 15-thousand and 100-thousand euros for equipment such as milking machines, bulk storage tanks, tractors and cultivation and harvesting implements.

The grants will cover up to 65% of the cost of the equipment. The grants are financed from the 259 million EU aid programme for the Turkish Cypriot community.

Farmers wishing to know more about the scheme and how to apply are invited to an information meeting, which will take place on the 12th of January at the EU programme support office in Lefkosa. (north Nicosia) Further local information meetings will be conducted by the Rural Development Support Team in subsequent days.

Applications must be delivered by the 17th of February 2009.
The Rural Development Grant Scheme is a central component of the European Commission’s Rural Development Sector Programme (RDSP), which aims to improve living conditions in rural areas while protecting the environment and developing a sustainable use of natural resources.
