But anyway, the ones Paphitis mentions are for search and rescue, etc.

So much hardware so little war... :?

I hate to sound like a warmonger but what's the point of piling up all this military hardware if it's not being used? :?

The AW139 is a multipurpose helicopter which is ideal for SAR, border protection, troop insertion/extraction, maritime patrol, surveillance, and law enforcement. :)

These beautiful birds will also be equipped with FLIR.

Very useful for keeping a close :eyecrazy: on those bloody Turks!

Excuse me GR! :?

But your link above depicts an non airworthy Mi 35 helicopter:

Image

If you look carefully at the photograph, you will notice that the MI 35 has a flat tyre and is leaning to the left.

May I suggest that the CNG invest in one of these: :D

Image

Once we get those tyres properly inflated to the correct tyre pressure, then we can discuss strategies on how we can declare war on Turkey and liberate Cyprus.

More JW Scotch please!

Merry Xmas one and all. :D

The most significant point to dwell on is the Russianturko deal for the helicopters and our one sided belief that Russia takes a moral stance on the Cyprob.

Do you remember the 6 Day war way back in 1967 , poor Egyptians also expected Russia to come to their aid .

Russia will look after its own interests regardless , just as the West will do the same . What about us Cypriots , well look at the impressive array of friends we have amassed over the years. Palestinians , Ethiopians , Iranians , Sudanese , Lybians , Cubans and last but not least the man himself Bin the Conqueror arsehole . Oh boy with friends like that who needs Russia the West or anyone else for that matter. But we are moral after all !!

Bananiot,

This has nothing to do with politic for a change.!

Is your avatar meant to be the image of Sir Trevor McDonald, the ex Black newscaster for ITN's "News at Ten" by any chance.?

Yes it is Kikapu, I remember him with nostalgia. On the issue of the chopers, there is a significant political message in the deal, which is very evident here in Cyprus, especially following the President's visit to Russia, which was reported as though we formed a military alliance with Russia against Turkey.

Kikapu,

Why have you described Sir Trevor McD. as ex black etc ? Has he gone and done a Michael Jackson since leaving ITN ?
