Rehn Calls For more Efforts

Postby halil » Mon Dec 22, 2008 12:56 pm

REHN INVITED ALL PARTIES CONCERNED TO THE CYPRUS PROBLEM TO WORK TO CREATE A “WIN-WIN SITUATION

Mr Rehn told the Reuters News Agency that the European Union was not in the business of pressure. We are in the business of facilitation.

`It is important for everybody, but Turkey is one of the key stakeholders`, he added, urging all parties to step up efforts.

`I hope that next year will be the year of Cyprus and its comprehensive settlement," Rehn said.

He called it essential `to reunify the island so that Cyprus could be like a normal EU member state, in peace and united`.

He noted that it was very important that the talks continue to be driven by the leaders of the two sides of the island, adding that the EU was ready to bring as much legal and technical support as required by the two parties or the United Nations.

well said.. only turkey is pushing for two states not re unification so turkey is making it very hard for this solution that mr Rehn is talking about...

its turkey that needs to be pushed and told this even though they ignore this and wont listen and insist on two states in cyprus even though turkey signed away all rights to cyprus
