IDF tests Cyprus’ S300 system…

From the article “Upsetting the Balance of Power” under the link…

http://www.antiwar.com/prather/?articleid=13933

…we learn that the recent Israeli sea & air military exercise was to also test Cyprus’ Russian S300 air defense system…

Then, this past June, Israel carried out a large-scale military "exercise" in the Mediterranean as a "warning" to Iran that it had "the capacity to make an air strike on its nuclear facilities."

Reportedly, an important objective of the "exercise" was to check out the effectiveness – or lack, thereof – of the "export version" of the Russian S-300 sited on Cyprus.

Well, apparently the Israelis satisfied themselves that Russian system wasn’t effective, either.

Err, who is going to tell the Israelis that the S300 system never made it to Cyprus which would explain why their brilliant fighter jets were never picked up by it… :?

Or was the system turned off? Image

Probably that exercise was at the time when the missiles were offline for the nuclear upgrade.

Now I am totally confused. The Turks back in those days declared the prevention of the S300 move to Cyprus as a huge diplomatic victory. Now we are told that they are in Cyprus after all. So is this a declaration of a defeat by the Turks?

As I recall the s300s were moved to Greece in a deal brokered by the Americans. Did the Greeks and the GCs manage to fool the intelligence and diplomatic services of the USA, the UK, Turkey and Russia?

Methinks we are underestimating our talents!
