which is the best city in Cyprus for living, and working ?

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

I am not sure that any towns in Cyprus satisfy the use of the word 'city' as defined in the true English language. Just last week a town I visited in the Caribbean with a population of just a few hundred and that too called itself a city.

Limassol has a place in my heart from the time I lived thereas a youngster but cannot truely be described as anything but a dump.

If I was to choose nowhere beats Kyrenia.

It is ,however, now obvious that buying property, either in the north or south, is not to be recommended with potential ownership problems with some titles in the north and an in the south an increasing chance of banks stealing homes paid for in full years ago. Not that the GC government cares.

When was the last time you were there? It has developed leaps and bounds since the time I was a youngster. It's definitely the least "dumpy" in Cyprus, so if its a dump, so are all the other towns/cities. I believe Limassol and Nicosia qualify as cities, given their respective populations.

I agree Mr T is clueless.

City is a generic term for a large town (relative to the other towns of that country). The UK used to throw in the added bonus of a Cathedral ...

The Cambridge English Dictionary defines 'city' as 'a large town' or 'any town in the UK which has a cathedral'. This is the common meaning of the word throughout the world, and in most countries the size of a town is the deciding factor over whether it has city status. Large towns are automatically considered cities.

It is a fallacy that any town in the UK which has a cathedral is automatically a city. Living in the UK you should be aware of that and if in the future you are going to quote from a dictionary make sure that it is a decent one.

What is large town? In some countries a town witha population of just a couple of thousand could be considered large but this hardly makes it a city.
