Riots at Peyia Soup Kitchen
Fights broke out and tempers flaired at the Peyia Soup Kitchen, earlier today. Angry Peyia expats, fought with their compatriots from Chlorakas, after one of the latter tried to push in the orderly queue. 'It's just not British - and why should they take our food when they have their own Soup Kitchen and there are many people starving in Peyia?' said one local resident.
In a recent development, the British High Commission has appealed to the Municipality to allow British expats, who could no longer afford to live in their 'luxury' villas, to move into the local school gymnaseum.
The local Association of Sri Lankan and Filipino Housemaids, have said how successful their new charity shops are; there they sell their discarded clothing and household items to deprived Expats. One happy customer said, 'I have just bought my wife a book for Christmas, it is in Singhalese so she will not understand a word of it, but it is the thought that counts'.
Pafos Police, yesterday arrested 83 year old, ex school teacher, Mrs Minger McPherson for solicitoring; 'I know it was wrong', she said, but I have to feed my 62 year old son. At least in prison I will have a nice dry cell and three meals a day.
The Mayor of Pafos was unavailable for comment; an Aide said he was in London buying up properties with some odd Euros he had found down the back of a settee.
