Thanks for that valuable piece of information! I did not realise. :?

I don’t appreciate either of you, or anyone else for that matter, downplaying the seriousness of Greece’s attack on Cyprus and overall calamity this initiated.

Neither Greece nor Turkey ever had any respect for Cypriots or their fragile constitution, and anyone who still cannot see that is just plain STUPID.

Tjilla to karotsoui sou re GR pou en na mou peis you don't appreciate. Read what is written first before jumping in opos to Appitourri.!

(apologies for the greek ((if you can call it that)).

If you had any common sense you'd know that attacking the RoC government/constitution IS an attack on the Cypriot people.

Even if Makarios stopped the coup Turkey would have still invaded, They proved this.

BTW well done for using your own words, its the only way you'll improve your english.

DT ,
in your eyes you have stopped the coup ..... I don't think so my friend ...

I don't know how old you were at that time but imagine when they were hearing what Sampson was saying from CyBc Radio .... That was justice by Tc's ..... Tc's ,We were always in fears before 1974 DT ..... Always actions takes by the peoples feelings and demands . There was no trust between 2 sides DT .... We must be honest ... otherwise just playing with us with nice words and saying .... Imagine morals of the Tc's at those times .... Because i lived all through those times as a TC .... of course by feeling of those thoughts i would think different . this is very nature my friend .

Halil
One question for you and i want your honest answer.

Do you think Turkey came in 1974 to save the TC's or look after her own interests in the long run?

I can say both of them Iceman .

Without TC's support nothing can be happen there was a great support from our community and demands ......

i remember these kind of the posters around in our villages ......

Halil
Considering the present situation regarding the state and future of (saved) Turkish Cypriots,i have to disagree with you.

The gentleman who is now serving as TRNC Prime-Minister, Ferdi Sabit Soyer, said in an interview with the Cumhuriyet newspaper on 31 March 2002:

"Türkiye, artık lütfen bizi kurtarmasın. Bu kurtarılmanın bedelini yeterince ödedik. Kimse tarafından bir daha kurtarılmak istemiyoruz."

[Let Turkey please no longer rescue us. We have paid a high enough price for this rescue. We do not wish to be rescued by anyone again.]

He seems to be singing a different tune nowadays.

No one has attacked The Republic of Cyprus Constitution.

May I suggest you take a break from CF. You are taking things a little too seriously and this can not be good for your health. Spend a bit of relaxation time with the family and then come back refreshed where you would be better able to do Cyprus some good.

DT, I hope you realise that I NEVER said such a thing. Once again  this is what I said:

The Greek Generals were given certain guarantees by the CIA that Turkey would not inytervene in Cyprus should they conduct a Coup and depose the Makarios Government.

Greece initiated a Coup against The Cyprus Government. This matter was purely an internal GC affair and did not involve or endanger the TC community.

OK, now I can see where you are coming from (see highlighted text).

The comment above was very insensitive, and could have distressed refugees such as yourself, but it I never intended it to have the context that you may have derived.

As a result, all refugees have my apologies, if my post above was misinterpreted to mean something else. My wife's family are also refugees and I can understand why people can get very emotional over such matters.

But I will say this to you GR! Please heed my advice and take a break from CF. You are continuously taking things a little too far. You keep turning this forum into a personal battleground, and this really does berate and ruin many debates. You really do need to lighten up, for your own good.

Iceman, you may be interested to look at the following, which is where I found the above quote. It is a collection of past quotes by Mehmet Ali Talat and other leading lights of CTP put together by some fanatic nationalist mainland Turks to show how "un-Turkish" they are! You do not hear them saying these things any more.
