Halil, the coup was overthrown by us after the 1st invasion. It didn't matter, Turkey still took 37% of our land when CLerides was President during the 2nd invasion. The coup was over by then.

Even if Makarios stopped the coup Turkey would have still invaded, They proved this.

I didn't downplay anything.

It is you that is making a conscious effort to demonise Greece, and it is this that I do not appreciate.

I think you will find that it is Greece that is the only country in this world that truly respects Cyprus, because I can tell you that you do not have too many other friends. Don't rely on Russia or France either, because ALL countries will ultimately look after their own interests before they even consider Cyprus. But at least we have 2 "half baked" friends on The UN Security Council who will veto any attempts of "trnc" recognition.

I don't know how old you were at that time but imagine when they were hearing what Sampson was saying from CyBc Radio .... That was justice by Tc's ..... Tc's ,We were always in fears before 1974 DT ..... Always actions takes by the peoples feelings and demands . There was no trust between 2 sides DT .... We must be honest ... otherwise just playing with us with nice words and saying .... Imagine morals of the Tc's at those times .... Because i lived all through those times as a TC .... of course by feeling of those thoughts i would think different . this is very nature my friend .

Have you forgotten Makarios and his 13 attempted ammendments????

The GCs stuck by the Constitution after they failed to change it,and after the TCs left to go and sulk in their corners...Everybody failed miserably...
If you people do not get this fact in your heads,you will be only pissing against the wind...

Makarios jotted down 13 suggestions which he then duplicated and sent out to each of the protagonists including Britain, Turkey, Greece, and TCs, for their feedback. It was the most democratic and noble gesture anyone had ever made during those years… the man was WAY ahead of his time among a sea of trouble makers whose malicious ulterior motives became evident soon after.
