Fair point

I understand where your comming from now.I am moving lock stock and barrell in Jan .Family are comming over in July for good.I am 46 and am in it for the long term.

Intros are what we live for and yes there is a good opportunity to make some good money.I am not previously an FA so no previous history or bad ways.

Any intros or networking opportunities would be greatly received.I do like a beer and as i will be on my own for 5-6 months New friendships would be welcome.

Hi Scott

It is hard to get new 'Friendships' here; the best you can hope for is survival LOL! The place is full of 'crazies' - me excepted of course!

Anyway, if you can get through the initiation, there is a lot to be learned here - just don't ask: 'Who is a true Cypriot?'

I believe being a Financial Advisor qualifies you being what we call a "True Cypriot". Financial Advisors have the ability to bullshit and lie quite a bit, especially when it comes to advising people on the positives of a particular investment class. A detachment to reality is required. How else are you suppose to sell your products in this downward spiralling economic environment?

Welcome aboard "True Cypriot".

Scott,

I have no problem meeting you for a beer when you are in Nicosia.

However, I hope you have done your research as to act as an FA in Cyprus you have to meet certains criteria (qualifications included) or have to have been at the game for a long time.

If you are setting up on your own, you might find it difficult. If you are coming to work for an established company it will be a bit easier.

I am actually good friends with four long term FAs in Nicosia and they are telling me that things are very hard at the moment.

I wish you luck, but don't expect it to be a bed of roses, especially if you don't have a good "pot" to keep you going until the business rolls in.

Cheers.

Scott,

No problem, I am very happy to meet you for a beer and if you like I can bring along some of my mates who can tell you of their experiences in the business here.

I would expect that you will probably have to spend a fair bit of time travelling around the Middle East where there is a lot more money around for investment.

Bullshit apart!

I truly welcome you to CF!

I think you will do just fine around here. Unfortunately, I can not help you with the Financial Services industry in Cyprus, as I do not live there.

I wish you good luck, and I hope you can crack the Cypriot Market.

Looks as though CBBB is better able to assist you, but do not allow anyone to dampen your spirits. I am sure you would be able to gain employment with a FA firm in Cyprus.

Good luck! :D
