Another 18 milimeters in that last downpour! This is too good to believe.

The problem is, how much of it is just running in to the sea?????

We need snow in Troodos, that gets a chance to permeate into the grooud and the rivers to fill up the dams.

According to my amateur balcony-based weather station, we have had 11 centimeters (not milimeters!) of rain over the past ten hours or so. That is one and a half times the average rainfall in Limassol for the whole of December. And it has just started raining again - heavily. Let's hope it goes on like this until the dams are full.

TIM read below news ..... we owe so much for them ...... They pray for the rain ............ yaaaa we don't want the settlers........

Yağmur duası bitmeden sel başladı
DUA YARIM KALDI...

Agreed. I have a good view of the hills from my flat, and they appeared to be thick with clouds, so it was probably raining up there as well. I am also curious as to how much rain there has been higher up, particularly in areas where the water will flow into the Germasogeia, Garyllis and Limnatis rivers which feed our two main reserviors (in Limassol).

We have had quite a bit of rain and hail in Nicosia today (I will know how much when I go home and can check the level of my pool), but this will only really replenish the local water table, which although a good thing, will not help very much next summer.

It is still drizzling a bit even now here. I reckon we will end up by this evening having had double the average rainfall for the whole month in the space of 24 hours. This cannot be bad and I do not think it is only raining down here near the sea. I will be interested to see what they have to say on this evening's news programmes.

Well if CYBC can refrain from showing us our next Eurovision Song Contest entry (or the last one) so that there is something of interest on, we might find out!

Where are the dams that supply Nicosia, by the way?

Not 100% sure, but seem to think that the water flows down the northwest of the Troodos range before coming towards Nicosia.
