Unfortunately I have to work in the evenings and have done so every Xmas and New Year for the last 34 years, so dinner is out of the question but you are most welcome for lunch. :)

There is nothing wrong with webbed feet, I have them and I am an excellent swimmer!

Great rain we have been having in Limassol. According to my amateur balcony-based weather station, we have had 11 centimeters (not milimeters!) of rain over the past ten hours or so. That is one and a half times the average rainfall in Limassol for the whole of December. And it has just started raining again - heavily. Let's hope it goes on like this until the dams are full.

Yağmur duası bitmeden sel başladı
DUA YARIM KALDI... Kuraklık endişesine giren Karpazlı çiftçiler dün yağmur duasına çıktı.

Yağışların eksikliği yine kuraklık endişesini körüklerken Karpaz bölgesi çiftçileri çareyi yağmur duasına çıkmakta aradı.

Dün gerçekleştirilen ve Yedikonuk köy imamı ile cami derneğinin organize ettiği ve Yedikonuk halkının da destek verdiği yağmur duası yağmur nedeniyle yarım kaldı.

Yedikonuk, Tuzluca, Büyükkonuk, Kaplıca ve Taşlıca köylerinden gelen yaklaşık 400 kişi Yedikonuk köyünün kuzeyinde Yudi diye bilinen dağlık bölgede sabah saat 10.00'dan itibaren yağmur duası için toplanmaya başladı. Kurban edilen 3 koyun yanında yakılan ateşler üzerindeki büyük kazanlarda kavurma ve nohutlu pilav pişirilerek salatalar hazırlandı.

Daha sonra yere serilen seccadeler üzerinde toplanan halk din görevlileri eşliğinde dualar okudu. Öğle namazının kılınması esnasında ise dolu ile karışık sağanak yağmurun başlamasıyla duaya katılan vatandaşların büyük kısmı yağmur altında kaldı. Yağmurun ani bastırması üzerine araçlarına koşan vatandaşlar yağmur altında Yedikonuk köyüne dönerek köy camisinde toplandı ve dualarını burada devam ettirdikten sonra hazırlanan yiyecekler yendi.

Yağmur duasına Büyükkonuk Belediye Başkanı Sezai Sezen , Dipkarpaz Belediye Başkanı Mehmet Demirci, Din İşleri Müşaviri İbrahim Duman, TC Yardım Heyeti'nden Seyfettin Koçum, birçok bölge din görevlisi ve kalabalık bir yöre halkı katıldı.
