Don't get caught by the Cyprus bank scam emails
By FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE ONLINE STAFF 15.DEC.08
People who bank online in Cyprus are again being warned to ignore emails from banks.

A new spam email claiming to be from Laiki bank is circulating in Cyprus.

The email, despite several spelling mistakes, looks genuine, and appears to come from a genuine bank email, but they are just part of a number of sophisticated scams designed to rip you off.

The latest email, with the subject line NEW MESSAGE, claims that the bank has, “noticed some errors in your Account Details. For this reason, we require you to validate your Banking Informations again.”

The advice from most banks is to press the delete button.

The only thing new to me personally is that the scam emails are from Cyprus and as we are in a Cyprus forum I thought it best to warn people.

Hotmail isn't very secure, I know a few people who'se accounts were hacked even though they deleted such scam emails and never replied to them. Their account was used to sent advertisement messages to all the contacts in their lists.
