Thanks for your empathy,Bananiot...I think I am ready to give up and admit defeat...I believe we will have less of a chance as human beings to win over the bigots...If otherwise intelligent and sensible people cannot see that the whole problem started because certain foreign powers convinced us we were Greeks or Turks before we are Cypriots,and still to this day they insist on hanging off the aprons of their "mothers",what chance is there of uniting this God forsaken country...????It is easy to sing the virtues of DEMOCRACY when you know you are in the majority...It is easy to hold the centuries old grudges and the bitterness and hatred towards what you consider "the enemy"...And want to exctract punishment and revenge...It is somewhat harder to face yourself honestly and admit that you were terribly callous in dealing with your main minority...And admit that you have put such fear and terror into that minority that they will not trust you as long as you keep insisting that your ethnicity means everything to you and you could not possibly live without rubbing it into the other side's faces...What else is there to say?

I want to live in a fully democratic country,where everyone has one vote of equal value,and where one's ethnicity plays no more part in their lives than the colour of their eyes or hair...But this will never happen as long as people insist on holding tightly onto the very illness (ethnic nationalism) which has crippled them for more than half a century...
Words have failed me...I can only watch from a distance how my beloved country slowly self-destructs...

Have faith my dear friend , there are thousands upon thousands of Cypriots who share our views and are proud Cypriots first and foremost.

Foreign powers did not convince us that we are Greek. We have been Greek since before the Hellenistic Period. In fact, Cypriots were instrumental in the creation of Hellenism, since we played a integral role in the development and evolution of the Greek Alphabet.

We do not want revenge against anyone. We are very forgiving people, despite your betrayal of the RoC. We wish to share a country as EQUAL citizens where we all have exactly the same rights and liberties. Nothing more and nothing less.

It is you that wishes to re-write the definition of democracy which will only lead to further bloodshed down the track. Any such solution will be unworkable.

As an unwelcome invader to the island, you have no right telling the indigenous islanders to abandon their culture or ethnicity, just because this would make you feel better or more secure.

On a lighter note let me tell the 7 criteria that makes a Cypriot , if you score 5 or more you are indeed a Cypriot ,
3 -4 you are on the borderline but still considered Cypriot , under 3 you are a foreigner !!!

1. Love of snails cooked any way, ( can be substituted with pickled cucumbers )
2. Halloumi , olives and tomatoes , cooked any way.
3. Souvla , any meat and cooked properly.
4. Watermelon eaten cold with halloumi 5. Zivania ( can be substituted with Cypriot coffee )
6. Ameletita on the BBQ drenched in olive oil and parsley.(can also be substituted with pickled cucumbers ) ps.testies to Floda !!
7. You have a least 10000000 koumbarous if you dont you call everyone a koumbaro or gardash !!

Forget the DNA nonsense folks the proof of the pudding is the above

Maybe, it is because I am half-cypriot (maternal side).

We are ALL, as part of this one species, far too genetically similar, and that includes the Amazonian tribes which have not mixed with others for thousands of years.

There are no NEW genes that one human has, that another does not, in order to constitute a new or different race. We all have the same genes, one gene pool, albeit variations which give us blue eyes or brown eyes, bigger lungs or smaller brains!

I think you will find that was a parody ..... since I do not believe in God. And if you read it carefully, it is suggesting the Greeks inspired THE Human Race .... that is a NURTURE (meme) assertion and does not say that the Greeks have NEW genes to make them a DIFFERENT "race".

i also read that greek speakign cypriots accuse turkish cypriots of crimes and turkish speaking cypriots accuse greek speaking cypriots of crimes the truth of the matter is all cypriots have comited crimes agains our own people i have said this ages ago and i have no reason to change my stance on this also the present so called leaders of cyprus are traitors to cyprus, for they do not represent cyprus or cypriots but they represent what is in the intrest of mainland greece and turkey so there for this leaves us without identity an island that is lost in the history of identity for its own people,

O, I can not help but feel an affinity towards Free_cyprus, regardless of the inherent lack or complete absence of "charismatic" presentation of his views . He is absolutely correct in airing his views regardless of the method he uses in doing so. The message contained in his views is not complex but it defies grammatical measurement because it is such an honest and solid assessment of the situation , no doubt he possesses an enormous amount of common sense that has helped him to retain a hold on his true patrimony.
