TC EXPERT ERHURMAN SAYS GC PROPOSAL ON EXECUTIVE GOES AGAINST POLITICAL EQUALITY

Tufan Erhurman, a member of President Mehmet Ali Talat’s negotiations delegation and a DAU Academician, has provided some information about the negotiations process regarding federal governance and executive.

Assistant Prof. Dr. Erhurman said the Greek Cypriot proposal on federal executive goes against the principles of bi-communality and political equality.

The executive system offered by the Greek Cypriot side will lead to the distortion of the Turkish Cypriot willpower and this is going to create a determinative effect` Mr Erhurman explained.

He said the proposal does not perceive the willpower of the two peoples of Cyprus as separate and instead takes Cyprus as a single community.
And the proposal which ignores the political equality of Turkish Cypriots offers the election of the President and Vice-President with a weighted ballot by Greek Cypriot voters.

`The Greek Cypriot side’s proposal is completely based on the presidential system and the President and his deputy, who will be directly elected by the people, will become clear on the voting script` Erhurman said.

He stated that the ideal executive system for Cyprus is the one offered by the Turkish Cypriot side- that is the Swiss model of Presidential Council.

Halil, is this your translation, or that of Bayrak? Can you possibly explain what the underlined phrase is supposed to mean, because it makes no sense in English?

Can someone explain to this wanker that the US is a country 500 times bigger than Cyprus, it is a federation with 50 states, yet the president and vice president are elected by the people, without this violating the principle of political equality among the states?

Can someone explain to this wanker that the US is a country made up of a thousand of different communities of various ethnic, cultural, religious or linguistic backgrounds, yet it is regarded as one people and one nation; and if this wanker is truly interested in a solution, he has to finally digest that in no way or case will the GCs ever accommodate his ridiculous theory, and finally, if this wanker wishes to sell such an idea to anyone, the best place to go is Turkey in which he may give the status of a separate people to the Kurdish citizens of Turkey.

What a bunch of wanker "professors" they indeed have in the north!

We have to adopt what works best for a united Cyprus this does not always fall in line with what you want Kifeas, this professor is a very clever lawyer and obviously has concerns about what the GCs are trying to do.

What works for Cyprus is what works for Cypriots, and not what works for the Turks the British and some minority.

So what works for Cyprus is democracy. Cyprus is a European state, and if some of you don't get along with Europe and the European principles, then you can go back to where you came from.

Has this clever lawyer sold his ideas to anyone else? If so who? Seems that what he proposes is not evn the Swiss model, but some concoction of his own.

He's only an assistant professor, usual VP mis-information. As for being clever, well Denky is a clever lawyer and you know what mosts GCs think of him.
