Do you think he would have warned the ref politely that he would write an angry letter to Mr Platini ( and say to the sky cameras"oh dear how unfair" ? Of course Ballack was angry after that handball , as it was the FOURTH penalty appeal turned down.I thought he was going to clobber the ref.
If it was a Cypriot team, there would have been a manslaughter charge
The sending off was diabolical, Anelka DID trip himself but again, the referee gave the decision. The linesman and fourth official were playing the 3 monkeys, see, hear and speak no evil.
The whole event was suspect. Why choose a low profile ref from Norway to take charge of a high profile game ? You could see the ref's face after the match ,when all the Chelsea players surrounded him, thinking "Is this worth it, I hope the money has gone into my swiss bank account, and the bmw Z4 from Platini is waiting outside with the engine running".
Football,its a funny old game![]()

The Pique handball was the ONLY blatant penalty.
