Does Isolation on "TCs" Mean Recognition?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

That's Just about it.

Your claim to be one of "TWO EQUAL PARTNER Peoples" is based on the the Zurich Agreement I suppose. An "agreement" that was forced on the GCs by the retreating colonial power. You are a minority but you see yourselves as a nation of very special supermen who deserve and are entitled to a status that no other democracy in the world confers on its citizens.

If you are so bloody special how come you can't run your economy without being propped up by Turkey?

PS Please don't bore me with "isolation" as an answer.

You place a knife in my back and then you say you dont want to know about it and then you have the nerve to say why are you bleeding all the place and accepting help from a nurse.

Wake up VP! Your "response" to my post makes absolutely no sense at all, I think you chose the wrong one!

Try using your brain for a change,

Knife = isolation and stolen recognition
Bleeding = Economic dependence
Nurse = Turkeys financial support

See what I mean? If you don't take people on this forum seriously, then how can anyone take you seriously if you keep making cracks like that?!!!
All I can say about you is that even though I fully support what you have espoused - Cyprus for the Cypriots - your combative tone and cutting comments makes you more an object of derision than anything else.

Is there a (to use the U.S. term) "Status of Forces Agreement" between the northern Administration and Turkey? If so, is there a place on the internet to read it?

I am not sure on these issues utu but the TRNC has tried to achieve it with Nato and was refused as far as I know. It is not something I worry about because the TRNC has never asked Turkey to leave. Bottom line...I don't know.

But logically if Turkey recognizes the north as sovereign, and that the Turkish military is there by invitation of the northern administration, then there would have to be logically a treaty regulating this: a Staus of Forces agreement. If there isn't, then by the purest definition of the word, it is an occupation and not a protective force.

There hve been others utu according to this :
http://books.google.com/books?id=jaKlYW ... t#PPA57,M1

Take a look.

Interesting article, but I was referring to Turkey vis-a-vis the northern administration; not the UN. If Turkey recognizes the north, then a status of forces agreement between it and the north is - in Turkey's eyes at least - legal.

As I said utu..I really don't know. The facts in Cyprus never make sense..Only in strange ways.......I should be sitting in Cyprus right now as a TC but am not.....I should be able to bring my children up as Cypriots under the Zurich agreement but am not...Go figure....

Utu, raises a very valid point. If there is recognition from Ankara to the north then there should be a treaty governing the presence of Turkish troops. This can be extended even further however to other situations. eg Why have no Turkish football teams been playing friendlies with TC football teams since they recognise the football federation in the north?

Another thing, in what format are the payments given to the north by Turkey? Are they buying up Treasury Bills which means that they need to be repaid at some point? Are they providing grants to the govt? In what context, as a humanitarian activity?

These questions are in the same vein as you telling us that we are not self sufficient when you impose embargoes on us......You are just speculating on what is happening...I have said I don't know and the Turkey says that it is a political problem...There are many faces to the problem..Nothing in Cyprus is black and white but it seems you want clarity in things that help you but nothing else. You should be operating under the Zurich agreement...Why aren't you....We should be living in Cyprus as Cypriots according to the Zurich agreement..Why aren't we.....Your devious ways do nothing to address these issues and if utu is going to try to justify the Greek stance in this problem then his thesis is going to be just another coffee table magazine rather than a truthful analysis of the situation. There are coffee tables bulging with these sort of useless papers and I was unfortunate to be present at a seminar where another one was born, the other night. He sounds concerned about the situation but another useless paper is not going to anything to redress the situation.

You say that you want to be equal partners with the Gc...and you highlight this ,what gives you the right as an 18 percent minority to have equal political power as the 80 percent majority.....first of all no majority would agree with this, second then a reunited cyprus would not be considered a democracy, The Tc demands are unrealistic to say the least, In a democracy the minority cannot violate the rights of the majority,,,,,this is what started everything in the first place, when the tc thought their veto power could be used to paralyze the republic.....and theMajority....
