I have consulted Kifeas  do we have any rights to be heard Kifeas and if we have as what entity? answer these questions and you will have your answer.

You have an absolute right to be heard in the EU, provided you first recognize the EU and the RoC, then recognize that you do so as the TC community which is part of the RoC, and finally that Cyprus is part of the EU only because of the ROC membership to it.

If you do not recognize any of the above, and instead you claim that you are a separate people and a separate "nation-state," what on earth are you going to the EU to do, more so on what basis you ask to be given the 2 out of the 6 seats allocated to the EU member RoC in the EU parliament?

If you see nothing absurd and hilarious in your actions, then I wonder what definition we must give to these two words.

Your missing the point who claims we are in the EU? (albeit aquis suspended) who took the whole island in divided without our permission, whos now got the hot potatoe on their hands, frustrated at what to do? Who sees the TCs as part of the EU? not us.....President Talat is only asking for what the EU have bestowed upon us by default, if thats how they view the situation then surely they should treat both communities equally in order to help solve the mess which they now find themselves regrettably in the middle of.

Its not how we view things its how the EU view us and if they consider us part of the EU then they have to talk to us as equals, not just the GCs who do not represent all the people living on this island. They have granted a voice to all the people on the island including us yet they refuse to allow us to speak, the fact that your one sided entry into the EU has given us a better opportunity to put our side of the story is a blessing in disguise for us and a definite backfiring on your part, now trying to deny us this right is not in line with the philosophy of the EU. President Talat is only asking for something which the EU itself has offered.

More News from Brussels :

GREECE IS USING GREEK CYPRIOT ADMINISTRATION AS OBSTACLE AGAINST ANKARA

President Mehmet Ali Talat has said that Greece’s stance against Turkey has eased greatly but that it still used the Greek Cypriot Administration to obstruct Ankara’s EU accession process.
The President was speaking at a press conference where he evaluated his contacts in Brussels.

As part of his final day of contacts, the President will be meeting today with the Finnish Foreign Minister Alexander Stub and the Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenber, whose country will be taking over the EU term presidency next month.
Talking to reporters, the President said that he discussed both the ongoing negotiations process and the EU’s role in the talks during his contacts with EU officials.

He said that he had also asked EU officials to encourage the Greek Cypriot Administration to work towards a solution.
Pointing out that the EU could not take on active role in the Cyprus negotiations process, President Talat however said that he did ask the EU for technical assistance.
Talat also said that Greece was using the Greek Cypriot Administration as an obstacle against Turkey because it did not want to sour its own relations with Ankara.

Touching upon the negotiations process, the President said that the talks were generally going well but complained the lack of pace because there was no foundation.
Stressing that the Cyprus Problem could not be solved with Turkey, Talat said that the Greek Cypriot leader knew this well.

“I asked Christofias if he thought the Cyprus Problem could be solved without Turkey’s involvement. His reply was no. However he’s pretending he never admitted to it.”
Responding to a question, the President said that the Greek Cypriot Side should and could temporarily abandon its oil exploration activities if it wants a solution to the Cyprus Problem.

As part of his contacts yesterday the President met with the High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana.
Meanwhile, the Greek Cypriot leader Demetris Christofias has accused President Talat of adopting a though and intransigent stance, adding that the situation did not contribute to efforts aimed at finding a solution to the Cyprus Problem.

Speaking to Greek Cypriot State TV(CyBC) before departing for Brussels, Christofias said that the Greek Cypriot Side desired to constructive and effective at the negotiations and that Talat was perceived neither as an enemy or rival.

I wouldn’t be surprised if that happened if Turkey leaves the tap turned off for too long… the man is getting very desperate.

The sad thing is,GR, Turkey thinks Talat has grown too big for his boots, and cannot be trusted any longer...They are getting ready to dump him for Dervish Eroglu,an uncompromising Turkish nationalist...You might yet get to miss Talat... :(

Perhaps it’s an opportunity for the RoC to bail him out… what’s that figure again 500m p/a? Surely the RoC can pay that and buy them off…

This is no laughing matter,GR!

The Military, the Establishment, and the "deep sate" never trusted TAlat in the first place....Now the AKP government are having second thoughts...
Probably for two reasons...One,they don't think he is Turkish and Islamic enough...Two,as Tim alluded to above,ERdogan is being drown closer and closer to the Military which would be much more comfortable with someone like Eroglu in charge of the negotiations...We have at most 18 months to find a solution, after that the Partitionists'dreams would most probably be realised...Agreed or not... :(

Poor president Talat...Bir says Turkey doesn't want him and iceman says (he knows best because he lives in Cyprus) that Talat has become Turkeys yes man.....The GCs do not have to fight us...We are doing a fantastic job for them as they had planned.....

Bir.......Do you agree with the fact that when Makarios ordered his supporters to put down their arms against the Coupists the killings continued and would have done until completion. If so how can you ask us to give up our position and go in bare arsed to see what we can get. I don't know how you think when you want to grovel to a hostile people but I have no intention of doing that. If that comes about we deserve everything we get...Which will be not much. The Greeks have been erasing everything Turkish from their system for centuries and the evidence shows that nothing has changed... Turkish words have disappeared and replaced with Greek is one example...The idea that you could think that anyone is going to give you a single biscuit is just beyond me. The world does not work that way. We are partners in Cyprus and you want to give that up and go cap in hand to a people that have tried to starve, kill, or trick us into submission. I really have no idea where you are coming from. I understand your good intentions for humanity but the real world is a dog eat dog one. I pity the lamb that walk into the lions cage.

You've renamed the entire 1/3 of the island. You've erased names that were there in BC times! Is your brain keeping up with your typing?

Is yours..That is the question DT....You have been doing it for centuries and you take 40 years as an affront.....Why am I not surprised.....The fact that there have always been Turkish names for these places ( that you well know) is another factor that you chose to ignore...Keep going mate.....Shows my people more and more how you guys are trying to trick us as well as the world......Not going to happen....
