If your television has got a satellite tuner u can pick up the satellite signals with right size dish and LNB other wise you must get satellite receiver as well .

for a moment in Cyprus LTV and Bayrak TV does DVB_T broadcasting .

Properly the ones u are getting are LTV's .

CyBc is planning DVB-T transmission as well .Now CyBc tender is on . Tender will end up in january 2009 .
From the tender documents what i understood is they are broadecasting will be at MPEG-2 format .

It looks in near future in Cyprus Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots will have a difficulties to see each others programmes because Turkish Cypriots format is DVB-T2 . Digital tv must be capable to understand both formats .

MACKAM1955 ,
u said u brought your tv from UK . If i am not wrong u were picking up DVB_T2 format in UK as well . Am i wrong .What we know is BBC is completed their DVB-T2 test transmissions .

ok.
your tv set can get free to air signals not satellite signals .
tv set has got analogue/digital combo tuner . its means you can get present terestial VHF/UHF tv channels on digital transmission you can receive only DVB-T version of the transmission .(Also analog signals)
Reception System is : SECAM-D, SECAM-B, SECAM-K, PAL-B, SECAM-G, PAL-G, PAL-I, PAL-D, SECAM-L, PAL-K its mean your tv set will work in UK as well .

it is not full HD tv .

YES,U need digital box .
good luck .

In Cyprus only LTV and Alfa transmit on digital but they are scrambled. When your tv found 6 it should have named the channels.
I was at someones house during the summer tuning their tv and the digital tuner picked up 3 Arabic tv channels which were free to view and crystal clear. The house was in Limassol and the antenna was pointing in an easterly direction. We have this problem every summer in humid weather where the middle eastern tv channels interfere with our local tv channels (on analogue reception).
So a tv with a freeview or digital tuner should pick up any free digital transmission (and name the scrambled ones)
Ps Freeview (in UK) is only available from a tv aerial in UK and is nothing to do with Freesat, which is available from the Sky satellite system with a big dish.
