Oh...Found it...... I made a mistake wth time...Big F***ing deal......6 months or a year.......My sister...the one I was refering to is the youngest.....My oldest sister will not cross...EVER!!!!

Actually the difference is more like 2 years.

You said 1 year ago that last year she crossed over. Now you're saying 6 months ago.

zan has a peculiar axe to grind.

I was in Cyprus last year, for a family matter, and went to Kakopetria in the mountains to meet a cousin. The three cafes in the center of the town were full of TCs, the streets full of TC cars, this on a weekday. They had gone to the town for entertainment and were totally at ease and comfortable in their surroundings.

Last time I checked some 12000 TCs work in the south and cross daily with no problems, and from posts here it seems that many more cross south for shopping, medical treatment etc every day.

But the situation does not suit Zan's fantasy.

Unfortunately for you Zan its not a fantasy. Ask any Cypriot who lives in Cyprus (tc or gc) what goes on every day over here. You have no idea.

I ask them nearly on a daily basis DT.......My family. They have seen a little of both......Respect and intimidation.

about six months ago......My sister said that she will not bother to cross again...Too much like Harringay.....She prefers Cyprus. She got some nice looks and reception and some bad......Just for being TC.

Strange, because on January 26 2008 you claimed that your sister crossed into the south in the previous year, i.e. 2007, and decided that she could not wait to get back because it was too much like Harringay!

Either your sister developed amnesia and, forgetting that the south resembles the dreaded borough of Harringay, once more made the crossing only to make this discovery again and repeat her vow never to return ... or (heaven forbid) the whole thing is a fabrication.

More seriously, Zan, I have phoned your mates at the Turkish Cypriot Network on the advertised number of 07949806537 to try to find the year in which 26 Turkish Cypriots were allegedly beaten up by the police in Limasol. There was nobody there to answer the phone so I left a message. 24 hours have passed and they have not returned my call. You must admit that when this story is displayed on the home page of the website http://www.tcn-cy.freeuk.com/ under the heading "NEWS FROM THE TRNC", the implication is that this is recent news. This impression is strengthened when one reads the story and sees that this event is alleged to have occured on February 19, with no year provided. The reader is encouraged to believe that an event which - if it happened at all - must be over a decade old occured recently, which is a gross and malicious distortion. The fact that they are unable or unwilling to return my call and put a date on this news only strengthens the impression that these people are acting in bad faith. I am sure you know these people, so perhaps you could request that they pass on this information.

Having established that this group is acting in bad faith, one has to question their good faith in other matters. I see on the same home page this organisation is collecting donations for something called SOS village which is alleged to be on the outskirts of Nicosia and apparently "provides protection and home comfort to the children who are in need." When I see how little regard these people have for integrity when it comes to the news articles on their web site, one unavoidably wonders if this is some kind of scam. Can anybody provide me with directions to this "SOS Village" on the outskirts of Nicosia? I can't help thinking that I would like to see it with my own eyes.
