i can`t believe after numourous phone calls to lca police station that not one police officer came out as promised to sort out a situation opposite my place of work today where 5or6 drunken men, including one commotosed man who lay for 2 hours in the middle of the pavement!!

what does one do when the police don`t show up???? the said police station is only a 10min walk away from the situation where these people were disgracing themselves.
so much for our so called police force

They must have been very busy solving all the murder cases and the catching of all these bank robbers or maybe they just wanted to finish their game of 'Tavli' first. :)

Why were these 5 or 6 drunken men hanging around outside your place of work for so long? :?

I don't think they can arrest them just because they were drinking. But they could arrest them if they were making a lot of noise at very late hours. What time did you call?

Maybe if you had a word with the Supermarket owner ... perhaps suggest that the drunks are inhibiting shoppers from visiting his store ... then he can complain to the police for his business being driven away ....

Being drunk in public a is not an offense. However behaiving in a disorderly manner whilst drunk is another case.

A couple of years ago I phoned the local police station because I thought I had spotted a break in at some industrial premises close to where I live. The reply was that, "Our patrol car (singular!) is attending to an accident now, but we will try to send it over later." It never turned up. Luckily, this turned out to be a false alarm.
What scares me is that this police station is repsonsible for three municipal areas in the Limassol urban sprawl - including the central section of the tourist area - yet they only have one patrol car covering the whole zone! Should I put a different spin on this? Perhaps I should be happy that there is so little crime here that one patrol car is all they need.

We all know that the Cyprus police force is a joke. If you want results the best thing to do is to send them a fax. That way you will have a record of what you sent. If something serious happens then they would end up looking like the incompentents they are and you would have proof. Happened to a freind of mine and they responded immediately. Good luck with the keystone cops.
