Can't find anything on the internet about this, even the Cyprus News Agency hasn't said anything.

I made a phone call to a relative at about 0500 GMT and was told the same thing.

But I was also told that his death is imminent. He is on life support atm.

had spoken with a former cabinet member of his and he infomed me that he was called with the news. Didn't think someone that senior would be misinformed.

@ Karma, why do you bring on Denktash into this matter? we're talking seriousness here, please leave hatred outta this, besides denktash is a man like you and i. what ever ! leave the dead to rest in peace, Makarios passed away and so was Fazil kucuk, get a grip... we just lost our ex-president, we should moan and forget about Greco-Turkish hatred.

It is sad to think that Papadopoulos passed away without seeing Kyrenia...
He was without doubt an important figure in recent Cyprus history....He was probably the last living important EOKA leader...He saw off Makarios,Grivas,Yorgadjis,Kiprianu and even Sampson....He was i believe a heavy smoker....I wonder if that was because he was carrying the weight of history on his shoulders....May God have mercy on his soul...And may he rest in peace... :(
