Getting rid of the periptera! I want it to look like Cyprus.

They could at least make them blend in a bit better instead of looking like part of a shanty town.

So un-Cyprus. Too futuristic. Too ghastly.

Btw, is Eleftheria Square the old Metaxas Sqr?

Yes Deniz, the old Metaxas Square, named after the Greek dictator Metaxas.

Thanks Bananiot. Cypriots surely hate dictators.

At least they seem to leave the old Venetian Walls intact.

He was indeed a dictator, however he also said the famous OXI to the Germans and Italians during the 2nd World War. Thereby keeping the German troops occupied in Greece and delaying the attack on the Russians into the winter rather than spring as planned. The outcome and duration of the 2nd world war would have been very different had it not been for this dictator.

I think you have to use your imagination for those later "add ons" .... it's a CAD image so the shops (for you shopaholics from the "trnc" ) will be in those box shaped buildings .... (Honestly, cluttering up the image with McDonalds signs  )

Over 600,000 Metaxases in the RoC then. That was a big OXI. They too 'dictate'.

It took me sometime to understand how the elevated walkways follow the walls and then turn into the ramparts of Metaxa square.

Havind so much underground area is inviting a scene all too common in pedestrian subways the world over- the usual down and outs, the constant need to patrol the areas, you know the scene. But on the other hand it does away with the solid bridge across the moat as it is now. Perhaps the same idea but a little more delicate would have been better. Something without so much concrete.

As for the trees, that is a choice of the people who maintain the place, not the architect's job to show them.
