Driving towards Kokkina (en route to Stavros) some 20 years back, we gave a lift to a lone CNG teenager walking back to his camp after being sent off to the nearest town for cigarettes. We were greeted by about 20 teenagers, all bored, stationed for some weeks in the middle of nowhere. They were desperate for us to have coffee with them and stay and chat. I have a group photo of them and wonder what they may all be up to now ....

I like how you always stop and give these poor buggers a lift.

I remember when travelling around Cyprus with my uncle. Whenever we saw a CNG conscript on the side of the road, he would always stop and offer them a lift to where they needed to go or the next town.

I have provided lifts many times in the past to our young lads, but they don't seem to need them now as their parents have bought them all BMWs and Porsches!
