Do TCs want to live in a GC state as a minority?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Do TCs want to live in a GC state as a minority?

Postby Viewpoint » Thu Dec 04, 2008 12:41 am

Do we TCs really want to live in a state where "majority" GCs rule supreme and you have to deal with GCs in government offices, courts, police, officials where you will always be discriminated to the back of the queue. Minority status is akin to the Indians in the UK, although British citizens they are always at the back of the queue in a country where racism is 1000 times less than in the GC south.

If you say you don't mind and trust GCs to treat you as equals with equal rights with discrimination then why the hell don't you go live in the GC south?

What the hell have you been smoking VP?

Having to deal with GCs in government offices etc is perfectly normal and expected if you live in Cyprus, which happens to be where Greek Cypriots come from. If you lived in France would you demand not to deal with any French people? Yeesh.

If it's such a big deal for you, move somewhere where there are no Greek Cypriots, like Turkey.

And have you ever actually been to England? Indians at the back of the queue? What queue? There's no laws in the UK forbidding Indians from having the same rights as anyone else or the freedom to do as they please. This is called freedom and democracy. again, if these are unpleasant concepts for you then Turkey is ideal for you.

You're totally overdoing the whole 'prophet of doom' thing. If you don't start acting more human then people are going to think you're weird.

Given that the TCs can move south and get full EU membership benefits, passports, free health care etc but only some 2000 have done so I guess the answer is No.

First, the TCs are the 18% and therefore they are a minority. Period.

Second, you will be a minority in a state run by Cypriots. There will be TCs in the government, courts and everywhere else at a proportional ratio.

Third, being recognized as an ethnic minority is actually a good thing, since this will give to you additional (and not any less) rights, called "minority rights". In Turkey for example the Kurds were called "Mountain Turks" and were not even allowed to speak their own language. This is what racism means. The Turks are the biggest racists.

Forth, if you don't like the fact that in Cyprus you are a minority, that is really not our fault. We have been in Cyprus for 1000s of years long before you came here. Coming here and creating a minority on our island (by force and intimidation) was your choice. If you don't like it, you have only yourselves to blame.

Fifth, the human and democratic rights of Cypriots are above what "TCs want". I am sure most TCs (like almost everybody else) would want to be very rich, with luxury cars and houses. This doesn't give them any right to steal and commit crimes in order to get what they want. You can't take the land that belongs to us by 80% and which is the homeland of 5 times more GCs than TCs, and declare it as your own and "Turkish", just because this is what you want. You have no right to do such thing, period. If you choose to continue with crimes and illegalities so you can get what you want by stealing from us and violating our rights, then you will continue to face the consequences of your criminal actions.

More and more TCs are choosing to permanently reside in the RoC each year. They are treated as equal citizens to everyone else. So this destroys any angle that VP is attempting to push by posting this thread.

It is the TCs that are the racists, as they have evicted and unsurped 200,000 GC residents from the occupied areas. They are the ones that have formed an illegal entity founded on discriminatory principles which do not allow the indigenous peoples to return to their rightful homes.

They do not have to move south to get any of the benefits you have listed.

And by moving south for 6 months they can then claim back lost property, given per capita GDP in the north is half of that in the south why have so few made the move?

Therefore I guess the answer to the original question is still No.

Working in the south, about 12000 TCs and spending in the north (half the cost of living) would seem to explain it all clearly. When distances are so small and advantages so obvious why move south?

Especially when they have been gifted a GC owned property. Why move South when they can easily travel across the Green Line for work, exploit rights afforded to them as RoC citizens and then drive back across the Green Line, and go to a home that invariably does not belong to them.
