That's easy to prove, are you sure you didn't mean "God"? :?

I used inverted commas because it referred to what Yialousa1971BC said whilst we were debating GOD .... maybe has the two confused?

yialousa1971 wrote:Evolution has some evidence so does Christianity ie. the New Testament.

That the New Testament is evidence of anything is just a dumb statement. Yialousa’s posts aren’t worth the precious hard disk space they occupy.

Anyway, the question if God exists must start with the question… “Is the Bible authentic?” and for that we have evidence such as Dead Sea scrolls…

http://www.centuryone.com/25dssfacts.html

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_Sea_scrolls

It is a dumb statememt which is made by those having blind faith in God whilst denouncing all evidence which is scientifically proven.

It also proves that Yialousa is very narrow minded, and finds it difficult to get out of their comfort zone.

Thanks for the links. But the scrolls prove absolutely nothing at all.

Don't be silly, the important thing is that some of the Dead Sea scrolls are 1,000 years older than any previously known manuscripts of the Old Testament ever found.

When they were discovered and analyzed (carbon dated etc) the entire scientific and religious communities were shaken at their very foundations.

This to me just proves that the Old Testament is written by man, and is not the divine word of the ALMIGHTY, as some blindly believe. It does not prove the existence or not of God, whereas science has provided the best evidence so far that proves evolution and makes a huge mockery of creationist beliefs, which is basically the cornerstone of religions and our impossible quest to grasp the metaphysical unproven existence of God. Science offers the best proof as to the existence of God as the creator. Which basically tells us that religions are feeding the masses a load of bollocks. IMHO.

Science has proven fuck-all when it comes to matters regarding the universe so don’t dismiss anything religious just yet.

An intelligent person will keep an open mind and accept that some queries may not receive an answer in their lifetime if ever.

Anyways, I'll catch you guys later...

If you read my post again, you will notice that I stated that science has well and truly proven that "God the Creator" did not exist as well as Adam and Eve and what not. I do not completely rule out the existence of God, as this is way beyond my comprehension. Science also makes a mockery of all religious doctrines, but this does not irrefutably mean that God definitely does not exist.

The only thing I am certain about is evolution. Everything else is just too metaphysical and way beyond our comprehension. Maybe someone almighty being was responsible for the big bang. But religions are just a pathetic attempt by man to grasp things that have pre-occupied man forever, such as why we are here, and what happens when we die?

For me it is crystal clear....Earlier i made an attempt at humour...I said "I used to be an agnostic but i am not so sure now...."It either went over people's heads or they found it too childish...whatever...
All we need to do is to look back say 5000 years and examine the idea of GOD or a supreme being then....Today we would laugh at how stupid they all were to believe in all sorts of nonsense....I am absolutely sure thqat if we go forward 5000 years, people living then would consider our idea of a personal GOD totally bonkers...It cannnot be any other way...It is called progress...It is not stopable......

What's so humorous about saying...

"I used to be skeptical about the existence of God but I'm now having second thoughts" ?

...unless it's Australian humor in which case >

Or did you assume that agnostic just means "skeptical" all on its own? Yeah, I'll laugh to that...

It's the meaning of the word "agnostic" that makes it funny. It means the same as "I used to be unsure (about the existence of God) but now I'm not so sure (about not being sure)"

And this is the "official" agnostic's prayer:
"Dear God, if you exist, please save my soul, if I have one"

This is not funny but makes perfect sense...

"I used to be an agnostic but i am not so sure now...."

This however IS funny...

"I used to be skeptical but i am not so sure now...."

That's where Bir stuffed up... by assuming that "agnostic" is a variation of "skeptical".
