Trust unkie GR.

English is not my first language so I may indeed need an elementary English lesson, but not as badly as you need some Greek lessons, because the word is Greek. Being agnostic does not mean being sceptical, it means that you don't know.

So, the phrase "I used to be uncertain about the existence of God, but now I'm not sure" is indeed funny so shut up about it :D

In Greek, Agnostic is not "agnostos" or "agnosto" but "agnostikistis".

The word "Agnostic" is EXCLUSIVELY used for religion so shut up and take it you mythological man...

Have to agree with AlexISS.

The word "agnostic" was coined by the GB scientist Thomas Huxley in the mid-19th Century (he invented the word) and it is indeed derived from Greek roots meaning "without knowledge".

It's meaning hasn't changed (but it certainly doesn't equate to "scepticism") and remains the approach (debatable in my view) that the truth about the existence or otherwise of a God is inherently unknowable.

Gentlemen, please. Never mind the origins, we know its derivation. Stick to its use in the English Language.

You IDIOT!
Don't even dream of doing that again. I didn't say the word is not used for religion, I said it is not used to express scepticism but lack of knowledge on the existence of God.

At least I got you to google it up. Again!

Lack of knowledge leads to skepticism you Greek kiofte!

«An agnostic thinks it impossible to know the truth in matters such as God and the future life with which Christianity and other religions are concerned. Or, if not impossible, at least impossible at the present time.»

http://humanum.arts.cuhk.edu.hk/humftp/ ... nostic.htm

«One who believes that it is impossible to know whether there is a God.«

http://education.yahoo.com/reference/di ... y/agnostic

«a person who believes that the human mind cannot know whether there is a God or an ultimate cause, or anything beyond material phenomena»

You IDIOT!
Lack of knowledge and skepticism are two different things, and being agnostic means not knowing, not being skeptical, about God's existence. You couldn't even find a definition containing the word "skeptical"

At least I got you to google it up, yet again!

Give it up Alexi, you're just digging your grave deeper...

Don't twist things to your liking Charlie, because I never said it means "skepticism" but "skeptical about the existence of God".

It's a SET of words but obvioulsly way beyond most of you...
