BREAKING NEWS: Former Cyprus President Papadopoulos has lung cancer

It has been announced that the former President of Cyprus Tassos Papadopoulos has lung cancer. He has been in hospital for the past few weeks and will remain in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.

Theodoros Kyprianou, the head of Nicosia General Hospital's intensive care unit said that cancer was detected on Papadopoulos’ lungs after examinations by specialists.

"Mr Papadopoulos is aware of the diagnosis and is treating the whole problem of his health with courage and serenity," said Mr Kyprianou.

As president between 2003-08, Papadopoulos ushered the island into the European Union after rallying Greek Cypriots to reject a UN-brokered reunification plan.

Exaggerations! At most you spend one thought on him the time you read the post. I hope Papadopoulos will get better soon although with lung cancer and at his age things are not looking very good

My Mother died of cancer and families of those with cancer have a tough time too. Whether I spend "one thought" on him or many - is neither here nor there is it?
