Internet access

Postby coyoteugly » Sat Nov 29, 2008 7:55 am

Hello, I have just arrived in Nicosia and have tried to log on to the internet at both the Coffee Beanery and Gloria Jeans without success. While my computer tells me I am picking up the signal, which is usually excellent or very good, I still cannot log on to any websites. Do I need to change the settings on my computer? If so, what do I need to change?

Hi coyoteugly, sounds like your computers wifi card has a priviate IP on set on it.

Assuming you are using Windows XP, go to start >>>> Network connections >>>> right click on the wireless networks >>>>>> properties >>>>>>> Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) then set everything on automatic.

Just to be on the safe side, make sure internet explorer / Mozilla doesn't have any proxy settings ticked.
