sorry to use you as an example but cannedmouse has a picture of a can and a moose (no surprise there). how do i get 1??

You need to email or pm the administrator Demetriou with the url of the picture you'd like as your avatar. They then add it to the standard list of avatars in the profile section. That way, they monitor what's up there to prevent porn etc. Alternatively, if you go to the profile tab at the top of the screen, you can choose one of the standard ones...
