Ditto Lana, as my wifes family originate from India we have close ties with the country and it's people, and are thoughts are with them at the moment.
As for condemnation of the recent events and possibly thinking for a moment of the individuals who have lost their lives, as always forum lives up to it's reputation of apportioning blame rather than showing a little compassion.

Strange you should mention 'dignitaries' finding an excuse not to be at certain places; I was telling Oracle only two weeks ago, that Mumbai (along with Abu Dhabi) was on my short list for a Christmas vacation - but that I had concerns about safety. However, I am certainly not 'dignified' and there was no prior knowledge!


My heart goes out to all the victims and their families.

Sadly, tourism throughout India will suffer too - with yet more people losing their jobs and joining the masses of the desparately poor there.

To me, India is the most fascinating country in the world and Mumbai an intriguing place to be.

This British citizen feels far safer walking along St Andrew's Street in Limassol (or Girne Caddesi in Nicosia) than, say, Stoke Newington High Street back in his home country.

Agreed. Even though times are changing on Cyprus (and not necessarily for the better) it is generally safer here.

I'm not too worried personally, although I am a British citizen and I have a British passport, my next foreign holiday will be to Cyprus, I am hopeful that the Cypriots won't be waiting for me to arrive and kill me
I must be careful what I say on this forum, otherwise I might be in trouble when I arrive in Cyprus
