News Desk

The revelation that British Greek-Cypriot businessman Andreas Liveras was shot dead for carrying a British passport by terrorists in Mumbai has sent a worrying message to many dual-nationality businessmen and women who travel regularly, with many not using their British passports when they travel outside of the EU.

The London Daily News who contacted last night twenty dual nationality business-people all British based have all said that they will be using an "alternative passport" to the British one when traveling. Several Greek, Cypriot, Italian, Armenian, Lebanese and Spanish businesspeople said to the London Daily News that travel to the Gulf states, Indian sub-continent and Africa with a British passport would be "asking for trouble" and that a Greek or Cypriot passport would be "a safer passport" to use when travelling.

One businessman Michael Hadjipavlou a wine merchant who regularly travels to the Middle East and Asia said:

"I have been in the UK for forty years, originally I came here from Cyprus, but in the last four years since the war in Iraq I have not used my British passport, but instead I use my Cypriot passport. This way I do not attract attention, my Arab hosts have no problem with Cyprus and I can do business easier."

The Foreign Office has advised British citizens to not travel to these and advises against all travel to parts of:

* Afghanistan
* Algeria
* Angola
* Armenia
* Bangladesh
* Bolivia
* Chad
* Comoros
* Congo
* Congo (Democratic Republic)
* Ecuador
* Ethiopia
* Guinea
* India
* Indonesia
* Iraq
* Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories
* Ivory Coast (Cote d'Ivoire)
* Kenya
* Kosovo
* Liberia
* Libya
* Mauritania
* Nicaragua
* Niger
* Nigeria
* Pakistan
* Russian Federation
* Rwanda
* Sudan
* Thailand
* Turkey
* Uganda
* Uzbekistan
* Yemen
* Zimbabwe

The London Daily News contacted the Cyprus High Commission in London which has reported a rise in applications for citizenship in the last two years since it became a member of the European Union.

CBBB,
are you sure that British are safe in Cyprus ?

once more again have a look forum topics .

Good morning Halil.

You have me worried now. When is the last time anything like this has happened in Cyprus?

I shall cancel my next trips to Cyprus henceforth. :lol:

We all know that Halil is deputy chief propogandist, right behind VP. :roll:

He is well known for not allowing the truth get in the way of weaving a negative spin against Cyprus. :roll:

Perhaps inadvertantly he has got the wrong end of the stick. I know how Halil feels, I dont believe he is a propagandist. Disseminator of news and thats all. Some of his news you may not like, but that is life.

Well if he aint a propogandist, he sure as hell gets the wrong end of the stick a lot. :roll: So what you are saying is that he is simply an idiot? :?
You do have a way of trying to put words in my mouth. Certainly not. He has a high level of intelligence to get where he is in his profession.
I blame his 'level of comprehension/understanding' of the English Language.

Maybe you need to have a word with your good friend Halil.

Perhaps if his good friends tell him that he has issues, then you are half way to solving the problem. Why do you let him disgrace himself? :?

Acknowledgement of the problem is the first step. :D

Lets face it, he has a senior postition in a tinpot propoganda pirate tv channel. I am sure intelligence is no prerequisite. :lol:

He works for an organisation which has been the only voice for his since 1963. You may call it what you will, but for us, it was and is our only voice to reach the outside world. Deal with it. I may have different opinions from some TCs but at least one good thing we have in common is the fact that we like our voice and views, whatever they are, heard.

Halil is aware of his shortcomings and needs no advice from me or anybody else.

On the other-hand, I will recommend he contacts 'Side-Streets' which are able to help him. :lol:

It's amazing we're racist if we consider all muslims the enemy yet the muslim terrorists racialy picked out UK & US passport holders in this latest muslim attrocity.
Some will say that all muslims aren't terrorists; I prefer the alternative by saying that almost all terrorist are muslims..
I wonder just who is the real cause of Islamaphobia? I certainly wouldn't be pointing the finger at the BNP in the UK.

I wouldn't say we love the Brit expats, just some of them. The ones that spend all their time moaning about Cypriots and saying "Cyprus is in the EU now", can bugger off back to the UK

Terrorism: “The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.”

The definition fits the US & UK foreign policies to a “T”, but your inability to overcome your own racism seemingly blinds you into selective terrorism.

All bloody religions are responsible for so much fanatiscm and death.

There are too many countries in this world that give religion way too much credit. However, you can not compare Islamofascism to Christianofascism, unless maybe in the US redneck bible belt. :roll:

All you need to do is take a close look at Iran and Saudi Arabia. The stonings, beheadings, public mutilations, treatment of women, and public hangings from the grotesque practice of Sharia Law.
