If you play pool, a good place to go is The Boulevard which is a very lively pool hall. There are loads of guys and girls your age that go there.

Napa or Paphos I'd Say

Postby tcklim » Tue May 24, 2005 6:53 am

Guys have a much harder time going into clubs if they look young than girls do. They try to get as many gals in there as possible, ironically, so that the men will follow......

If you go to most clubs in galatex, Limassol you'll see theres much more guys than there are gals and so I presume this is why they do it..... dunno why it's like that here....

However, my bro is 16 and he's been to both Paphos and Napa and never had any problems getting turned away from anywhere. Nightlife scene in Napa does not need any explanation. Paphos is apparently growing really fast in that regard.

However, it must be said, that shamefully, the clubs in summer tend to be much friendlier to the tourists than they are to the Cypriots, so if someone looks Cypriot it's actually harder for them. Sad, but true

i know many people who have been to napa when they were 16 and got in. however once in they are ignored by everybody becasue its obvious they are not over 18. if u want to go out go to Memphis or another club for that age group. but if u want to pay £20 to stand in a corner go to napa

I worked in two of the most well know clubs and bars in napa...and I was told, on a regular basis, not to give any passes to Cypriots. Sometimes, they would even turn away Cypriots from abroad.

That's ridiculous. I cannot understand why people in their own country are not allowed to enter clubs or pubs. There are some holiday villages in Turkey that are operated by Russians or Swedes and only the nationals of these countries are allowed to stay in these hotels.. That's silly!

Well, the people I was working for are very well known in Ayia Napa and own everything..they happen to be Maronite-Cypriot.

The whole point of this was because they wanted a particular crowd in their clubs and thought that a lot of Cypriots would turn that crowd away (You know how 'fresh' Cypriot men can get with anything in a skirt...especially the ones from the villages up the road). Funny thing is, they let the Cypriots come in when its early or late season and there arent as much tourists lol.

I wouldnt work in Napa again..too much politics for my liking...got to know too many people and i'm a downlow kinda guy. Also, that stupid Cypriot mentality used to bug me...u know, if you work for me...you cant be friends witht hem or go inside that place. I couldnt even stand outside a bar and chat to a friend cos I had a rival bar's t-shirt on.

By the way, I am never working for those guys again lol.

While I understand why they'd do such a thing, I don't necessary support it.

One of the reasons has to do with audience they are trying to build. For example, DJ at the disco can easier manage a crowd from the common culture. They react to diffirent music bits similarly, their moods are more predictable.

Another reason might be security. When people of different cultures mix and match while drinking, certain type of incidents can happen easier. One of the ways of managing this is controlling who gets in.

There are a few other reasons of course, but I'm sure you can think of them yourself. :)

What's the fuzz it anyway? If they want only Russians to go in - let them have it. Chances are, if you are not Russian, you won't feel comfortable anyway. There are plenty of places to hang out at. Same goes for Swedes, Cypriots, Turks, blacks, Islamic, dog-lovers, lesbians, bikers, and everyone else.

I dunno, it sounds a bit discriminatory. I by myself would love to go to a Russian or Swedish holiday village. I hope you got what I mean
