The peddled “gaming laptops” can never match a gamming PC because there’s only so much you can squeeze into them. Expect plenty of heat, noise, high price, and a short life.

That's not true anymore. I've got a Dell M1730 with Dual core 9300 processors, 4GB DDR 667 RAM, 2x8800M GTX cards in SLI, an Aegia Physx card & a 128GB solid state drive. It will run the latest games at 1920x1200 with all settings high and not drop much below 60fps. It doesn't get hot and runs silently. I would benchmark it happily against any desktop built more than 6 months ago and 95% of desktops built today.

As for buying one in Cyprus, I paid £1700 sterling (tax free from Dell delivered via BFPO) for mine, but I would think you could add £1000 onto that if you can find one here. I would order one for delivery in the UK and get it delivered to a friends house, then fly over & collect it. You will make quite a bit on the Euro - pound exchange rate and the flight will pay for itself!

I've also heard Pixmania recommended before, but never bought anything from them myself as UK tax free is cheaper for me.

Here's the same laptop as mine (but without the SSD), which with delivery to Cyprus via UPS is £1570 GBP, which at today's rate is €1844. Bargain of the century!

 A complete waste of money! Laptops are for anything but games. With the same money you’ve spent you can get a decent business laptop AND a games PC for the home that’ll knock your laptop’s socks off…

If you had a job like mine, maybe you wouldn't see it as a waste of money. Desktop PCs have 10yrs left in them at most, then we will all be using laptops/tablets/ultramobiles (apart from you of course). The OP didn't ask for a cheap solution, he asked for a gaming laptop which I gave him. All you have contributed is your own opinion which nobody asked for.

People get bigger and bigger screens and on a laptop there is a limit on how big the screen can be. There are other reasons also like bigger more comfortable keyboards. If in some years the price and reliability of laptops comes at the same level as the Desktops and if it becomes as easy to exchange all parts then maybe what you say will happen but most people will have docking stations to connect their laptops on bigger monitors and better keyboards and sound system and use them as desktops whenever they are at home.

Try ComputerLand. If you want something very expensive then order one from abroad like from http://www.bhphotovideo.com/
