Flavors of the Mediterranean: A Little Taste of Cyprus
TORONTO, Nov. 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- KEO Beer, the much-loved brew
of Cyprus, has now become available in Ontario, following a surge of demand
from visitors to the Mediterranean island who were hoping to recapture some
vacation splendor back home. The recent increase in popularity of other
Cypriot products, such as Halloumi(R), the cheese that grills, is also
contributing to a push for Cypriot products in the Canadian market.

In the production of KEO Beer, only the finest imported pilsner malt from
Europe is chosen, keeping with the tradition and quality known of the pilsner.
Highly selected hops and extra choice hops are also imported to be used in the
perfect combination to ensure the production of a top-quality beer in every
respect.

However, high quality raw materials are not enough on their own. The
local climate conditions in Cyprus are considered to be a key element in the
production of such a high caliber beer. Heat pasteurization, originally
introduced for and in use throughout the world for typical beers, is decidedly
not the ideal system for a hot climate such as that of Cyprus. Instead of
sapping the flavor of the beer and reducing the quality of the final product,
the Cypriot brewers opted for a better solution.

>>
KEO Beer, a Gold medal winner among bottled lagers worldwide, is the only
beer on the island of Cyprus produced by the "chill sterilization" method, the
most expensive system which produces the highest quality beers abroad. In
combination with a minimum three month maturation period in underground
refrigerated cellars, the chill sterilization method gives KEO Beer its unique
flavor and guards against any loss of taste.

For a different palate and a truly complete experience of Cyprus
tradition, finish off any Mediterranean meal with a glass of Commandaria, the
appellation of origin, award-winning dessert wine that has been produced in 14
villages of Cyprus since the time of the Crusades.
