Enosis - the moribund dream

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby DT. » Tue Nov 25, 2008 6:07 pm

Well well well. I see we've managed in one thread to collect together a newbie GC thats live in Greece for the past 30 years telling us that Cyprus has been receiving handouts and that our economy is based on tourism and grants from Greece. Someone please direct him to the last years givt budget and the ministry of finance for the appropriate details. Last I heard tourism contributed 12% to our economy and the chances of Cyprus beefing up its economy with Greek handouts are the same as Obama deciding to re-name New York to Kaimakli.

I'm at an airport and do not have much time to get into the details of this but I'll just start byb reminding the gentleman that 2 of the largest Greek banks are CY owned. Marfin Laik and Bank of Cyprus.

We've also seemed to atract the Turkish mosquito who buzzes in and out with new world realities. The latest being that all the land in Cyprus belonged to the ottomans therefore the 74 invasion did not occupy GC land but already established Ottoman land. I shall be expecting to hear from the ECHR regarding my new property in Strovolos and the Ottoman requests for its return. I am saddened to hear that the land my grandfather and father bought in Morphou and Kyrenia was never theirs but belongs to the Ottomans.

You people are exchausting  Is it LSD? Is it magic mushrooms? are you all former Lehmans Brothers eemployees who have now turned suicidal and schizophrenic? Whatever it is I hope to hell no kids are exposed to either of you.

You actually want to go back further than 1571??

Come on GR, Get Real, let's dissolve Australia, the United States of American and most of Europe for that matter!

This is the problem with the GCs, you guys have no Set Focal point. Are you basing all your reasoning on 2008, 2004, 1992, 1983, 1974, 1960, 1955, 1878, 1571 or 3000BC?

I give up, we TCs can not sit around a desk with a community who just don't see Cyprus for what it is TODAY!

Partitioned!

Believe it GR, it certainly is real - and Talat and Christofias are both peeing in the wind!

My mistake.

No hard feelings, Honey.

So, that agreed then - we don't agree, like how Talat and Christofias will eventually NOT agree.

Why waste more time - let's agree to Partition the island then!!

Huh? Where did we agree partition? That's not my solution.

My solution is that any TCs who do not want to be amongst GCs (for whatever reason) should be sent to reside permanently in Turkey, along with the Turkish army, Turkish settlers and any non-EU residents that have not secured appropriate permissions to remain within the Republic of Cyprus (though this last group can go anywhere else they might want to go as long as it's out of Cyprus).

This is clearly the most logical solution because:

1. The TCs wont have to fear being exterminated or living under minority rights etc. They'll all be under the protection of the gloriously free and liberal Turkish state and it's full army, not just the 40,000 in Cyprus.

2. The TCs will finally be free of the shackles of non-recognition and can demonstrate their worth in the free market system of the Turkish economy.

3. All those Turkish troops get to home home to their families.

4. The settlers get to go home after years in a foreign land.

5. Turkey is relieved of the obstacle that is the Cyprus Problem and gets to join the EU as well as no longer having to spend all that cash on maintaining an unneccessary 'government' system in the puppet state.

6. TCs get to be as Turkish as they want. It's only natural for you all to drop the 'Cypriotness' anyway, Viewpoint has explained it all very nicely in another thread.

7. GCs get our land back.

Bada-bing bada-boom, problem solved. Much more logical than partition.

Alexiss,

I know who Kranidiotes was and his official title.

What is undeniable is the struggle he had to convince both Greece and Cyprus to go for EU membership. And once they accepted it was all handed to him to deal with. It was his dedicated work which brought about the result.

Think of it this way- what would the FYROM issue be today if there was a man like Kranidiotes handling it with the same determination. That should clear any doubts.
