Sorry Purdey I suppose I did,nt make it clear in my post as of course its NOT a blanket ban on Fox Hunting as too many people in power would,nt have allowed that. And it does allow riders to hunt in a shall we say a fairer way.
But although the Fox Hunt goes on in a vastly different form, i.e blocking earths up and badger setts to stop a fox going to ground, cubbing, etc has been stopped, previously if the Fox did make it down a hole the chances are it would be dragged out by terriers and made to run again to allow the numpties on horses to enjoy the chase.
Drag hunting has been brought in which many hunts now choose but some flout when a Fox 'pops up.' The one,s that choose to Hunt now realise that the Fox has a much more sporting chance than ever before, so for some its lost its appeal, as the Kill was never the important bit according to previous hunters (yeah right!) Once chased and caught up with the Hunters can instead shoot a Fox.
The Hunting Ban is blurred agree, and the fact that Camerons Party would like to repeal is the death knell for them really, as a recent mori poll shows 75% support the ban after 3 years. Its like a political party in the UK trying to lift the smoking ban, as if.
IMHO its always been a brutal, needless and outdated pastime and glad that at least its positively changed, of course there is still a vocal minority who are unwilling to accept the principle of democracy!
I could go on but its boring to others so I,ll leave it there. By the way I am and never will be part of any anti-hunt campaigns some of them end up usually as bad as the practices they try to stop. No, quiet prolonged action is the best way. And letting others know who did,nt live in the countryside as I did for decades that its never been good for the enviroment, quite the opposite.
