You might not be a fascist, but you are definitely an idiot! You are an idiot to believe that it is just enough for one powerful country to invade another smaller one, expel the indigenous inhabitants, grab their properties and homes, occupy the place and bring its own population in it, and then declare it as annexed, in order to solve the problem! Only an idiot of 1000 megatons would have thought that it is just as simple and easy! And a question for you, just to help you realize what an idiot you are. If it was that easy and possible, why didn't Turkey do it? Is it because the bureaucrats of the Turkish FM are stupid and ignorant, and you are “cleverer?”

Mr H stated:

Man you are funny!

Have you not heard the full name of the UK? The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, which has been the name for a LONG time before 1969. What happened in 1969 was direct rule of NI from London, it had been part of Britain since the time of Cromwell you clot!

Deputy Prime Minister – Foreign Minister Turgay Avci, who is currently in Doha, has been received by the Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassem Bin Jabr Al-Thani.

No statement was issued after the meeting.

A TRNC flag was raised at the entrance of the Qatari Ministry of Trade where the meeting took place.

In a statement, the Qatari Minister stressed the need for a delegation from his country to visit the TRNC to investigate investment opportunities in the Republic and to improve dialogue between the two countries.

For his part, Mr Avci told the Qatari Minister that he was in Doha to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral ties in the fields of culture, trade, education and tourism.

During the meeting, he also stressed the importance of Gulf countries for the TRNC.

On the Cyprus issue, the Foreign Minister voiced the Turkish Cypriot Side’s will to get a positive result from the negotiation process.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Avci attended the inauguration of the TRNC Trade and Tourism office in Doha.

Halil,

i put it to you that the PM of Qatar did not meet with avci. And nor did his foreign minister (both of which were in Nicosia last week)

Can you explain your sources for the story?
P.S if you read the story the cover up is done in an amateurish way.

Simple protocol dictates that a PM will meet with a foreign dignatory in the PM palace/office. Why would they meet in the Trade ministry?

The UK did not annex Northern Ireland. Under the 1800 Act of Union, the whole of Ireland became part of England. In 1916, Irish nationalists commenced a very successful anti-imperialist struggle against British rule. This eventually led the British to do a deal with Collins and the moderate wing of the Irish nationalist movement whereby the "Irish Free State" would be recognised, but the six counties of northern Ireland would remain British. The British did not annex northern Ireland, rather they relinquished control over the rest of the country so as to keep a tight grip on the industrial region around Belfast.

I would be careful about using Northen Ireland as an anology. While the protestant population was concentrated in the north, it was not in the majority even there until a brutal campaign of pogroms aimed at driving Catholics out was initiated in order to achieve the infamous "Protestant ascendancy" there. You see, Northern Ireland as we know it is the result of ethnic cleansing, so the parallels with the north of Cyprus are more chilling than one might at first glance think.
