Our target shooting club has a prize for the cannon crew. Anyone know where we can send it?

Is this an example of the "efficiency" of your reporting mechanism I wonder? Or simply a lack of accountability, for fired missiles, by the Turkish military?

No, it is an example of our complete bankruptcy when it comes to having an English language online news agency or a decent newspaper on the net! We have one, the Cyprus Mail, which is competing with Bayrak and the 3 Turkish -English language ones, as to who will promote better and faster the Turkish FM's propaganda on Cyprus! CyBC has only news in Greek, and please do go ahead flooding them with all your hate-mail, to their retarded website!

DT. wrote:According to Phileleftheros what seems to be a Turkish cannon shell has landed on the house of a woman in Ayios Dometios while she was thankfully out and at work (around 10:30 this morning). The national guard believes its come from the Turkish occupation forces who are conducting a millitary exercise in the area.

FFS!

Halil. Give me some kids throwing oranges at my car anyday!

DT,
throwing stones and oranges are also bad thing . Probably news will come out tomorrow .
Cannons are worse than anything . Thanks god it did not exploit . It is very strange for cannon fireing around those areas . Usualy they do cannon fires exersices from out side the people living areas . As you are saying Turkish Security forces confirm the fire came from their side they can also pay the damages .

I condemn all the actions against the civilians DT .

I also protesting the kids throwing stones or oranges as well , these kind of the actiones does not help at all .... Sometimes to makes jokes about it also gives bad image on the peoples.

also i am sorry that i made joke to u other day get ready DT about Turkish Stars .... I was joking with you .... I felt bad afterwards.

The question is, was it accidental or intentional? Not that it really matters now I guess.

Whats the big deal? Mistakes always happen, from just a few weeks ago

National Guard mortar narrowly misses village residential area
(archive article - Wednesday, October 1, 2008)

A MORTAR shell used in a National Guard exercise exploded just 50 meters from a residential area in the village of Pyrga in Larnaca yesterday afternoon.

According to Pyrga Community Leader, Christakis Constantinou, “at around 4.45pm a deafening explosion was heard. People ran to see what was going and found debris from the shell just 50 metres from houses, where people were working and young children were playing,” he said.

Constantinou complained that “when the National Guard is firing in the area they do not take all necessary safety measures. This is not the first time that this has happened,” he said and noted that “every time there is target practice the residents of Pyrga do not know whether something will fall on them or their houses and their children”.

The “Ministry of Defence and the National Guard Headquarters must understand that there is a problem with the firing range,” Constantinou added. He said the community would for the firing range to be shut down. “We don’t care where the National Guard will go to practice, let them go to Troodos, let them go to the sea as long as they are not here,” he said.

Defence Minister Costas Papacostas, said that “the shell veered off course and fell in an uninhabited area and that the case will be investigated”. He also added that “all security measures are taken although there is always room for improvement”.
