BROADCASTS SPEECH ON THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY

Postby halil » Fri Nov 14, 2008 7:13 pm

News from Northern Cyprus

President Mehmet Ali Talat kick started the official celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus today with a keynote speech broadcast on Bayrak Radio and Television at noon.

A 21-gun salute was also performed simultaneously.

President Mehmet Ali Talat has said that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was established as a result of the Turkish Cypriot People’s desire for self-rule.
He pointed out that this year’s 25TH anniversary celebrations that mark the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus come at a time when the Turkish Cypriot Side is working determinedly to bring about a comprehensive solution to the Cyprus problem.

`We are struggling hard with the hope that the talks would reach success` the President said adding that a positive result would be beneficial for all.
Mr. Talat said `those who examine the reasons behind the establishment of the TRNC will see that the Republic was established to prepare the Turkish Side to a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation on the basis of political equality`.

`This is why we are issuing a peace message to Greek Cypriots on the anniversary of our tradition of self-rule` the president said.
The President said the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus may have only been established 25 years ago, the existence of Turkish Cypriot on the island goes back to 450 years ago.

Noting that it was a great injustice towards the Turkish Cypriot people to relate the establishment of the TRNC with the 1974 peace operation, President Talat said that people who make such presumptions are denying the existence of the Turkish Cypriot people and are condemning them to become a helpless minority in Cyprus.

Celebrations in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will start tomorrow with a ceremony at the Lefkosa Martyrs’ Monument.

Wreaths will be laid, a minute’s silence will be observed and the flags will be hoisted to the national anthem during the ceremony.
President Mehmet Ali Talat will then receive well-wishers at the Presidential Palace and this will be followed with another ceremony in front of the Lefkosa Ataturk Monument.

Wreaths will be laid at the mausoleum of the former Turkish Cypriot Leader Doctor Fazil Kucuk.

Celebrations will reach a climax with a ceremony on the Dr Fazil Kucuk Boulevard where speeches will be delivered, a series of folk dance shows will be performed and a military parade will conclude the celebrations here.

In the afternoon, an air show will be performed by the Turkish Air Forces’ Acrobatics Team, known as the “Turkish Stars” in Girne (Kyrinia)at 3.30 pm.
Meanwhile, two Turkish War Ships are docked off the coast of Girne as part of the celebrations marking the Republic Day.

They are open to public visits between 10am and 4pm.

Watch it - your age is showing, you've just uttered another piece of false info. America never supported Turkey's invasion. In fact Turkish economy was crippled for almost 30 years after the invasion, because America stopped all military aid and grants to Turkey as a NATO member. In a country where a huge proportion of national income is spent on the armed forces, it had a devastating effect on the economy.

So exactly where did you read that America supported Turkey's invasion? Don't you have any internet skill? Why don't you do more research on the comical claims you keep putting forward?

thank you for that, but i think you miss understood what i was trying to say..

i did not say that america supported turkeys invasion, of course not i doubt anywhere on the net says that... infact if america suported the invasion im sure trnc would be recognised by US of A right??

no what i am saying is America with bush in charge America is pro trueky america has needed to keep turkey close for entry to iraq... anyway they have mostly favoured the turks more then cypriots

and about the invasion celebrations i was saying thats not a good move from the north it doesent help peace talks its like saying to us hahah fuck you we are going to make our trnc legal.. then say one thing then say the other and do something else, turkey is slowly losing the war and losing its only few allies

in turkey they think like its 500 years ago the econimy is going to fall apart and with no eu or un, turkey by its actions of insisiting on two states denying the genocide even though after america passed the law in germany trying to turkify everything there they are definatly going the right way to make sure they never have eu membership and the right way will hopefully force that army out of cyprus
