And you think that's funny?

If anything it was a desperate speech by a broken Turkey. Remarks like…

“The EU cannot ignore Turkey's strategic importance”

And:

"Everyone must be aware of Turkey's importance.”

…shows them pleading to be highly regarded!

Finally, comments like…

“Without the contribution of Turkey, the problems in the Middle East and the Caucasus can not be solved."

…show how clueless Turkey is regarding geopolitical forces. Typical Turkey overestimating her worth...

So there goes your claim that Turkey is begging to get into EU! :D

If anything it exposed their desperation and frustration, that's why it's funny!

Very accurate analysis GR!

Turkey would love us to believe that the EU is not all that important to them, so they can break us and force us to accept their demands which would only legitimise the current partition.

Very soon Turkey will become more desperate. They need to choose between EAST or WEST.

You two are like Laurel and Hardy!
There is nothing wrong with the man's claims. Turkey has just been asked to act as a mediator between US and Iran! Somehow I do not think the US and Europe over estimate the strategic value and importance of Turkey - but coming from fanatic GCs that would be an expected reaction. The guy is openly saying they will never change their Cyprus policy so as to be allowed into EU. It is what they have always been saying over the past decade or two - so what part is it you two do not understand? Or are you pretending not to, because it does not suit your arguments / expectations! :D

I think your right Paphitis Turket is becoming more and more desperate. In fact it will feel the pich as the US economy who have paid them laoyalty money for their invasion of Cyprus is falling deer and deeper into recession possible depression. I am confident that Cyprus and all Cypriots will benefit.

Nikitas wrote:"Not only that, they refused to take part in any NATO axercise or strategic activity for almost a decade! "

YOu are totally off the wall! Greece pulled out of the military wing of NATO following the invasion of 1974 in protest and then returned, I assume this is what you mean by the decade etc.. France pulled ouf in the same way way before and is still out. Are the French traitors to NATO too? There are Greek ships and troops in the Afghanistan campaign right now.

Russian ships anchor in INTERNATIONAL waters off the island of Kythira and for that reason Russia supports the Turkish objection to the 12 mile limit. If the waters are extended to 12 miles they would lose this free anchorage. There are NO OTHER facilities given the Russians.

The Americans have a huge naval base in Crete. By their account their most important base in the Med.

As proof of reliability of allies, go to the Greek cemetery in El Alamein, and in Rimini. Six hundred Greek volunteers died in Rimini, fighting AFTER Greece was liberated. How many Turkish casualties are there from the fight against Nazism?

In Woking Cemetery there are the graves of twenty Turkish Pilots killed during the WWII. They were flying Spitfires. Its an 'open secret' as Turkey was unofficially neutral.
I see these graves everytime I visit my grandparents graves who were refugees from 1964.

Bananiot, I will tell you a secret: Kissing Turkish ass is not how the world is run.

so if you are GC and you not hate or swear at TC you kiss TC ass. piratis you are the worse enemy of TC, how much hate in your body? you very proud with your TC policy?

So if I don't kiss Turkish ass it means I am your worst enemy?

What I ask is for our own land, and for our own human and democratic rights. If that makes me your enemy then there is something wrong with you, not with me.

Bananiot is kissing Turkish ass because he accepts and reproduces everything that the Turkish propaganda creates.

You are wrong Piratis. According to you there is only,' The world According to Piratis', and no other view is allowed. In yur pitiful world there is no place for the truth. What a shame.

How can he be a fanatic and a liar when he consistently asks for people's own property to be returned and respect of everyone's 3 basic human rights?

You disappointed me piratis, for a man of your calibre i would have expected you to come up with a better example to justify a criminal offence!!

I also gave you the Israel - Palestinian example.

But I think my second example could demonstrate to everybody (every married man at least) how it is not always possible to act nicely when provoked and when somebody else is celebrating the injustices and illegalities committed against you.

Piratis, do you realize what you are defending now?
You are defending a handful of extreme right-wing ignorant pupils of fascist background, attacking an innocent citizen of this country that happened to pass by, just because s/he was a TC! You are defending a bunch of idiots that on the occasion of Turkey's illegal puppet state 'independence" day, found it proper to take the Greek flags and chant slogans such as "ellas-kypros enosis," i.e. do and support precisely the mirror image of what they supposedly went there to condemn!

I am not defending them. I am just explaining the reasons of their behavior.

Since when have you decided to become the solicitor of a bunch of fucked up kids, brainwashed in the undergrounds of neo-Nazi EFEN, Drasis-Kes and Xrysi Aygi, i.e. the ideological off-springs of Eoka-B and IDEA?

I don't know who they are Kifeas. All I am saying is that the provocative actions and the illegalities of the Turks against us could bring out the worst even from nice people. I think the membership of such groups would be much lower if people did not feel so angry due to the injustices imposed against us.

Which in turn was begat by the injustices of 1963 against the TCs.....................oh lets not go down that route again Piratis for Gods sake. The same old arguments seem to raise its ugly head again and again.
