Really GR! How so? Any chance of some credible evidence to back your opinion?
Or are you going to behave like your new-found friend and make ridiculous unfounded statements.
Are you asking me to provide evidence that Greece has been undermining Cyprus?
In your very own words ...GR! wrote: for millenniums Greece had been denigrating that of Cyprus
Off you go .....
Easy…
The Mycenaeans (a bunch of illiterate peasants selling pots and pans) who allegedly arrived on Cyprus at around 1200BC, PINCHED the Cypriot alphabet to create the “Greek” and pretend that it was their invention for millenniums!
In as much as the evidence I have seen, suggests the Cypriots and Greeks arose from the same branch of migrating humans (circa 20,000 years ago), and that Cretans, Mycenaeans and Cypriots etc were all one and the same, hence their much used trading routes with each other ... and why I do not make such unfounded distinctions as you GR! which only serve to isolate Cyprus ... here is a Timeline to show that the Cretans had writing before the Cypriots (both representative of the prevailing main culture, and the same group of people, just slightly different location) ....
c 2000 BC
Development of writing on the island of Crete to keep records in the palaces.
c 1900 BC
Symbols, called Linear A, used by Cretans to represent syllables
c 1800 - 1600 BC
Epic of Gilgamesh reduced to writing according to fragments from the Old Babylonian Period
c 1792 - 1750 BC
Hammurabi, ruler of Babylon, creates the first Babylonian Empire c 1763 BC and issues a single law code
c 1450 BC
Linear B, a new form of writing, developed by Mycenaeans
c 1180 BC
Trojan War between Troy and the Greeks led by a Mycenaean King, Agamemnon
c 1100 - 800 BC
Greeks lose skills of reading and writing and suffer population declines in towns and villages
c 800 BC
Greeks adopt the Phoenician alphabet and add vowel sounds
As I said before GR! it is a silly game to play to pretend that either the Cypriots or the Greeks were better than each other, because their strength lay in their sharing of a culture unrivalled elsewhere. This is what you are turning your back on in a putative solution to appease the Turks!
