Halting Turkey's EU Bid

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Halting Turkey's EU Bid

Postby Paphitis » Fri Nov 14, 2008 3:37 pm

It is getting tiresome when all these Turks keep persisting with the clever use of a fear campaign against GCs. They think that this will result in us accepting any solution which effectively legitimises what they have stolen from us.

How often have we heard Turks tell us that this is our final chance at resolving the Cyprus Issue? They keep telling us that should these peace talks fail, then the next step is recognition.

They should realise by know that GCs are serious and that we will NOT accept a BBF solution.

It is time we embark on our very own fear campaign. We should remind Turkey that Cyprus has veto powers to deny Turkey's entry into the EU. We should remind them that we are not afraid to use our veto against Turkey.

Mr Erdogan is now seeing the writing on the wall. He is slowly coming to terms with the fact that Cyprus does have a major weapon against his nation, which is struggling to survive economically.

The obstacles in front of Turkey are great, but she only has herself to blame. It is time for Turkey to choose between EAST or WEST.

Maybe one day they will realise that we will not crumble under their fear tactics designed to destabilise us. It is they that should fear the RoC.

The power is with us. The well being of 75,000,000 Turks depends on Cyprus. 8)

Paphitis we should go further. No more aid to the illegal state. Why have we agreed for them to get a grant from the EU.

We should have vetoed that when we had a chance. We should also tell TC's that none of them will be granted ROC citizenship until the cyprus problem is resolved.

I've had enough of the nicely nicely approach. Let's make them suffer as they have made us suffer.

One of Europe's main strategic concerns is energy security, and more specifically ensuring that Russia cannot exert a stranglehold over energy supplies to Europe. This makes the Baku-Ceyhan pipeline crucially important to Europe and for that reason the EU will not shut its doors on Turkey.

It always comes down to oil & gas doesnt it.

Well if we can start getting at our oil and gas then their may not be a need to be so reliant on Turkey and the new pipeline.

They will shut their doors on Turkey when Cyprus or someone else vetos Turkey's bid.

And there is no way Turkey can ever become a member of the EU whilst still occupying an EU member.

Cyprus will not accept just any solution to make Turkey's EU passage easier.

It is time the Turks woke up to this fact.

How can anyone take the UN serious???? They accept a country as a non permanent member whiles that country does not adhere to the diverse resolutions this institution has against them. If you ask me the UN is also a muppet show........just like your pseudo goverment in the north.
