Ready for "Two Founding States" under a Federal Cy

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Ready for "Two Founding States" under a Federal Cy

Postby MrH » Fri Nov 14, 2008 12:21 pm

Are we ready for a Federal Cyprus based on "Two Founding States"?

Or Should I say, are the Greek Cypriots ready for this type of agreement?

The GCs will never legalise the partition of the island.

For starters, there are unconfirmed reports that the TC side is requesting a separate Flight Information Region, a situation which is unprecedented. No other country in the world has delegated Air Traffic Control duties to a subordinate Federated State. ICAO has the sole responsibility of delegating these duties, and they are only delegated to "recognised civil aviation authorities".

It is also reported that the TCs are requesting their own Central Bank, regulatory control of territorial waters, ports, and airports.

Basically, the TCs are requesting to have their own regulatory infrastructure which is essential only for a sovereign state. This can only prove exactly what their real ambitions are.

There is absolutely no chance that the GCs can accept such a thing.

But even more importantly, the GCs will not accept a BBF consisting of 2 newly found states. This has been said many times by the Cyprus Government. To do so would be a complete capitulation.

If the TCs are serious about a loose Confederacy, then they would table an 82-18 land split. This is because the type of solution currently being negotiated is nothing other than legalising and cementing permanent partition in perpetuity.

Is the Turkish minority on our island ready to give back what they stole and illegally occupy?

I think we can all agree for a bizonal, bicommunal Cyprus made up of two component states with political equality of the two communities.

Then it will not hurt going through it 1 more time.

I have a problem understanding complex pseudo democratic principles. More conventional types of democracy and governance are more in line with my simple tastes.

Since when did Turks learn to ask?

Oh yes, since you realised we have Obama and the EU to stop your demands ....

Simple, if the two component states have equal status then each component state wil exercise its authority (within the limits agreed in the constitution) and its territorial boundaries.

Stop making a fool of yourself Oracle.
