Killing cats and dogs

Postby Selena79 » Tue Nov 11, 2008 12:31 pm

I am standing here and cant understand whats going on. 3 dogs were poisoned recently in my area. The vet says he gets 4-5 cases per day. 2 in Pyrgos area 1 in the city of Limassol.

Gossip is that breeders do it bec its hunting season and they need to get rid of their puppies by poisoning hunting dogs. Municipality and police is doing exactly nothing.

Any idea how this could be stopped?

Ban the entire peasant region of Paphos and all its contents including the stupid Brits, cats, and dogs, who go and live there. I’ve had it up to my neck with Paphos... let’s take Kafenes out of that shit hole and burn the place down to the ground.

You don't have to come to Pafos if you don't like it, GR, it's a long way from Nicosia - and most people enjoy their life here. Just a bit unsophisticated for you 'City folk'.

Being a foreigner you haven’t got a clue what the rest of Cyprus thinks of Paphos, and the number of jokes that circulate about the locals. We couldn’t even understand what those weirdoes were talking about not too long ago as they had their own set of peasant words! Land in Paphos was literally WORTHLESS until the stupid Brits came along and started paying ridiculous prices for it.

I have been here long enough to understand how the City Slickers of Nicosia and Limassol view the Hick people of Paphos. Until the motorway and rapid growth of car ownership over the last 10 years, 'redneck' Pafos was rather cut off from the rest of the (Cyprus) world - but perhaps none the worse for that.

Until very recently - when the property boom meant that, suddenly, everyone here could afford a (used) BMW or Mercedes - there was a stark contrast in vehicular choice between Pafos and everywhere else. EVERYONE here drove doublecabs, I mean everone! When in Limassol, I saw people actually driving cars, it was such a surprise.

Now there is a clear class structure in Pafos: older Cypriots drive doublecabs and the occasional ancient Mercedes (ex-taxi), younger Cypriots drive Mitsu-Evos and sensible saloons while ALL ex-pats drive 4x4 for the 'lifestyle experience' (in the Orphanidies carpark) LOL.

Aaahh! It's the green-eyed monster again.

Land in Cyprus was never worthless. The peasants have always respected it for its true value

It is the Nicosians with their second homes in Paphos (those who can afford them  ) that are now resentful.

My Paphos hero ..... 8)
