Hail the new Monarch of Bhutan!

A country nurtured on happiness above wealth 8)

What can we learn from them? .... as we degrade ourselves further with our obsession on interest rates

Can you be happy in abject poverty ......

People are much richer today than what they were 10 years ago, but they are not happier.

The key to happiness is relationships and not necessarily having a lot of money.

Another important aspect to happiness is being satisfied with your achievements. Mental stimulation and personal growth are also important.

Success can be measured in a variety of ways, as being content in one's life is different for everyone. For some it could mean being rich and for others it could be having a successful career. For few it may mean having good relationships.

Being flat broke however does not assist anyone being happy, but happiness is still possible.

The rat race can also be drag in western society. Many people are working themselves into the ground and spending less and less time with family and friends.

From the link you gave the only thing I learned about them is that they still have kings and they are afraid to talk against them. ;)

Maybe a few people can, like gypsies. Most no. I think most people need some basic things in order to be happy.

Okay ,if you ask people what they would wish for, then wealth and happiness will be top of the list, which means that if you want wealth and happiness then you are not wealthy and happy.
Conclusion- many people are poor and unhappy.
