Grab a mortage fast..

Postby Svetlana » Fri Nov 07, 2008 6:47 am

...I was told, last evening that, from today, the Central Bank has frozen loans for an initial period of 10 days, which may be extended. As I understand it, this means that the commercial Banks will not be offering any new mortgages for the time being, from today .

Mortages which have already been approved should not be affected but even those seem to be cursed with delays of cash release.

The British potential buyers and existing residents in Cyprus are in for further hardship; with the UK Bank Rate dropping 1.5% savings accounts in the UK will be dramatically effected and the £/€ rate will be further worsened.

The interest cuts in the UK are great for first time buyers/buyers just on the ladder - keep dropping please!

The banks haven't dropped their rates yet and possibly won't as they are not obliged to. Also it is going to be a lot more difficult to get a mortgage with much stricter credit checks on individuals.
