Bir süre önce “Kıbrıs: Anlatılmamış Öyküler” yazı dizimizde 1974’te birbirlerinin hayatlarını kurtaran Çatozlu Ahmet Yorgancı ile Lefkonuklu ustası Hristos Kiprianu’nun öykülerinin yayımlanması ve bunun RIK televizyonunda yayımlanan “BİZ” programına da konu olması, geniş yankı yarattı. Türkçe ve Rumca olarak her gün RIK televizyonunda yayımlanmakta olan “BİZ” programı, Yorgancı, Kirpianu ve bizimle program çekimi yaparak bunu yayımlaması ardından, geçmişte biribirlerine yardım etmiş olan Kıbrıslıtürkler ve Kıbrıslırumlar’ın biribirlerini bulma çabaları arttı.

Hatırlanacağı gibi Çatozlu Ahmet Yorgancı, 1974’te 15 Temmuz’da darbe olduğu zaman, yanında yapıcı olarak çalıştığı ustası Hristos Kiprianu tarafından EOKA-B’cilerden saklanarak, hayatı kurtarılmıştı. Aynı şekilde ikinci harekattan sonra tutuklanarak Çatoz’a götürülen Hristos Kiprianu’nun hayatını, bu kez de Ahmet Yorgancı kurtarmıştı.

after 20 july 1974 this time Hristos kyprianu was safed by Ahmed Yorgancı when he was prisoned .
They are stories and others on daily yenidüzen today .

An interview with these two men was recently broadcast on CyBC's Biz/Emeis television programme. I found it very moving.

An uncle of mine was saved by local villagers from Alethriko and Kivisili after Greek army units 'kidnapped' him soon after the events of the coup in 1974.

All the local villagers from the area knew of him as a good man. He was the local bus driver of Kivisili/Civisil. But for the intervention of the local GCs he would have been murdereed as his friends were in Alaminio.

They appealed to the Greek commmader en masse and secured his release.

Name can be supplied on request. He only recently passed away.

BTW, he was the gentleman who slapped his son for trying to remove the stone cross from the Church in Kivisili. RIP.
