Personally I'm fed-up with Turkey bashing on this forum...

Well let's just ignore the few voices in Turkey crying to be heard by Westerners, to help pull their government/those in Power, into the 20th ( ) Century, because we don't want to hear another's plight lest it disturb our comfortable existence.

Sometimes there are regimes that have to be "bashed" ... especially as it happens ones that threaten to change the civilised way of life you take for granted!

I apologise... I thought it was the Cyprus forum... not Greenpeace or some such...

This is in the General section where all sorts of matters are aired, from medical, to word games to whatever ... At least it is in-keeping with the ethos of educating us, as to our neighbours, and as it happens for Cyprus, to a very real enemy which is trying to impose its will/politics on us.

Well I do not happen to believe something as fundamental as freedom of speech has to be restricted to a "dedicated" website (although I agree it deserves dedicated attention), and be excluded from everyday discussion because it tires someone's brain out to talk about more than Chlorine sources for one's swimming pool!

.... But to make this topic more Cyprusgrump friendly; where would we be if not for Science, but swimming in germ ridden pools

Well now you have flipped into over-generalized whinges .... My concerns are many, but on this forum the Turkey/Cyprus/Greece/UK/US are the main countries of interest (for reasons I know I do not have to spell out to you).

Now if at the present time (and these are highly topical and of the moment) there is more media attention because Turkey is systematically banning left right and centre (cue for CopperLine to blow a fuse!), then there is ample rich fodder for easy pickings.

However, I would not moan if someone wrote about Tibet or The Democratic Republic of the Congo, for us to discuss ... so why don't you go ahead and enrich us .....

If they did have concerns about the 13 y/o Somalian girl stoned to death for being raped, etc. I would guess that they are discussing it on a more appropriate site...
