I`m not naive & yes there is cruelty to animals world wide unfortunatly! but when you read such things over your first coffee of the day & see it`s on your door step you can`t help get mad! you would be a cold person not to react as i did when i wrote my first post! bad enough seeing dogs chained up & in cages & what has been done about them when you complain? NOTHING! maybe i`m upset as our belovered dog was poisened a few years ago by some sick person.
whatever, people need to be educated about animals most of them have more brains than some humans! lots of you no doubt follow the church & go for your blessings but where does it say in the bible go out & be cruel to animals! not very christian is it?

Nikitas wrote:"Many hunters simply abandon dogs that don't make good hunting companions "

That contradicts the charge that hunters swindle other hunters by selling them useless dogs at inflated prices. It also overlooks the simplest possibility, that the dog got overenthuisiastic and got lost.

I guess us hunters cannot do right no matter what!

It is these comments I remember every spring when planting trees (my record is 150 in one day) along with thousands of other hunters and I ponder on the word malakas and its application to my case. Same goes for the money I pay so that thousands of hectares can be planted with poison free food and cover crops. It would be so much easier and cheaper to be an indignant "ecologist" and do nothing more strenuous than occupy the moral high ground.

One fact that might make this thread more interesting- WWF Greece has `17000 paid up members. Of those only 7 have the right to vote for the leaders of WWF. There are no annual general meetings, which leads to the question who exactly empowers this, and other equally undemocratic eco organisations, to act on public issues.

Has anyone here seen the charter of any Greenpeace branch? Does anyone know how national chapters of GP are chosen to sit on the international board? How are the board members of this body elected for a seat on national boards? I tried to find these simple facts but could not. By contrast I can find the most intricate details for the internal organization of major companies.

NGOs receive public funding, often very large sums. What sanctions do they face in case of missapplication of funds through negligence or ingorance (i am leaving fraud out). Are they accountable to anyone? Obviously they are not accountable to their members.

Oh you are obviously referring to the EU then ? thats ok :D

sorry you lost your pooch, but these pages are reserved for the Cyprus Problem pages....Once again,... was your dog called Makarios or are you planning to invade Kakopetria?

If not stop messing about in the politics section and go find a general interests site.

What about dogs who kill the hunter eh, ever heard of them?

The hunter spends ₤1,500 to buy the oaf and then thousands more throughout the year for the best quality food and when it comes to the crunch the dog can’t figure out the difference between a wild hare and a mushroom so what happens then… the hunter gets a heart attack or gets beaten to death by his fat hairy wife for wasting all that money on a mutt!

Then you should learn to control yourself. Just because you were fuming over breakfast doesn't we all have to hear about it. Would you have done the same if you had started the day with great sex? Open a thread on the Cyprob page and tell us all about it?
