Nikitas,
You said:
Foreigners living in the south are exactly that- foreign residents. The presence of foreigners in the south has no impact on the political situation, since as foreigners they do not vote nor can they be elected. There are no non Cypriots in the government of the RoC or in any other public office.
I say:
Although your point is valid, it is unfortunately a "Short Term" scenarios, as the children of those particular foreigners are the ones who will surely cause a shift in the demographic balance in twenty years time. For instance, and according to my theory, let's say Turkey joins the EU tomorrow and they flood the island as much as the EU will allow! Then, those families have large Cypriot born children - what will happen then. Let me just say that the USA was populated on exactly that system, and so is now the UK. I was born in Cyprus, yes, but my children are British born, can vote and only do not presently make a huge difference because the UK has a large population - but things are changing. Due to Cyprus' small population, it will not take countries like Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania long for their Cypriot born Children to grow and OUT NUMBER the present Greek Cypriot majority. Cyprus needs to seriously think about the future Nikitas. I know Oracle says that my theories are imaginary, but just look at North Cyprus. Look at the amount of Cypriot born Children from Turkish Settlers, and believe how they clearly out number the former "Known" Turkish Cypriot population. This is no game Nikitas, and our majority rule in the ROC could easily slide.
